The ones with problems are the lithium ion/metal batteries. They are known to explode when roughly handled. Other batteries like dry cell/alkalines/NiCad/NiMH are allowed.

but how would they know what batt is in my luggage? are they gonna open up and see and confiscate the lithiums.... and leave the normal batts alone? and this is done without my presence??

Usually they will just ask if there are any batteries in your check in luggage. Most don't allow any batteries in check in luggage.

Well, for some airports. They will ask u to wait until the checked in baggage being scanned through first before you go into the immigration counters. Example Taiwan Airport. So, if they detect any suspicious batteries or burner or whatever la, they will call you. U need to open up the baggage and show them.

Those spare batteries u need to carry. Those that are already put into torches, attached with whatever equipment. Generally just leave it check in until u r being call to open. If no, leave it lo whistling.gif

Yea last time they never really asked. But these days I notice most of them ask already. Airasia ones so far not so consistent in asking though.

Yup when we were in Seoul flying to jeju also they ask us to wait for them to scan our check in bags first then they'll give us out boarding passes.
