haha...yeah thats why i went with 980gtx.

with my Intel i5 4.2Ghz (OC) + 8gb RAM + SSD (life saver in terms of loading speed) + newly bought 1440p monitor, i can run all the latest games on ultra.

GTA V had me a bit worried there (i just bought on steam for 40% off)...so much stuttering and fps drops, till game crashed when fps drop to 1fps...i was thinking, damn 4gb 980gtx not enough. Even playing at 1080p also same problem....then read all the online complaints and even guys with 980Ti also had same problems. Finally manage to solve this problem, and now running on Ultra, MSAA x2, at 1440p...90% buttery smooth 60fps with very very minor stuttering.

Witcher 3 running on Ultra 1440p, getting around 48fps forest area, 30-40fps in town. Still ok, maybe just tone down the settings a bit.

All in all, very happy with 980gtx.

Mind you, i migrated from a 1680x1050 TFT Monitor + 760gtx....so its a big jump for me. 

Yeah I kinda buy it, despite knowing about it. Got a good deal, can't pass up. haha

Yeah it's definitely better than having 2 970s.
I do have 16gb ram, but a game really need that much? Never read on this 
Mostly I see recommendation atm only need at least 8gb, not more than that when it comes to ram.

1440p at 120hz/144hz is overwhelmingly a much better gameplay experience than 4k30p (or 60 if you can afford multi cards).

There is no contest IMO, not until we can do 4k120hz

a little bit hard to find 2nd hand 970. So gtx960 is good? Asus gtx960 rm9xx.

You have a 5870 and only playing on 1080p. Sacrifice the details for a few more months is what I'd suggest you do. Furthermore our currency is utter shit now, PC parts are jacked up so damn high it's damn near highway robbery.

and Kepler will be forgotten by then?

i heard volta is the real big change in design compared to pascal. anyone know anything about this ?

My rig is turning 6 this March *touch wood* and it still handles GTA V maxed out at 1080p really well (i7 870, 8Gb RAM, GTX 970). Only upgraded GPU -> 460 > 680 > 970 and OC'd the CPU 

I should sell my 980ti before they announce the new gpu?
Or just stick with it for a few years. What do you think?
