Tech wise it's good on paper but performance wise it's really not that much of a jump from 980ti to 1080. Compared to 980 then it's quite a substantial margin la. Those on 980ti unless you got cash to burn, then might as well wait till 1080ti la...
Now my 970 now feel so lembik~ hahaha... XD

QUOTE(richard912 @ Jun 3 2016, 01:49 PM) FE is with 8 pin power. As seen in Computex, no-FE versions are 6+8 pin for better stability for OC since non-FE will be with different levels of OC by the respective AIB MSI released a $599 version of 1080. It's using reference PCB and blower style cooler. I think Galax made them too. So, there are 8-pins non-FE versions. This post has been edited by antaras: Jun 3 2016, 02:24 PM

haha... the review for the MSI 1070 had been suspended from Guru3D. Apparently AIB 1070 reviews are still embargoed until Friday. Guess we got some information earlier then intended.
Anyways, as for overkill or not... When I got my 970, I also thought it was enough for 1080 gaming. Then Witcher 3 came... and I upgraded to 2560x1080 monitor. Only overkill is our wallet... T_T
must... resist... 10... 70...

QUOTE(richard912 @ Jun 14 2016, 06:52 PM) Considering most of our casing/mobo orientation, we will hardly ever get to see the nicer reference shroud. We will be seeing more of the backplate instead Which also brings me to this question... why? Just why won't board partners make better looking back plates or back something? Okay, Asus is doing something with their RGB ROG logo now... but damn it's taking them looooonnggggg. All those fancy shroud design facing the PSU... dafuq?

QUOTE(adilz @ Jun 16 2016, 02:25 AM) Don't know yet. I think the price now is overly inflated. I'll wait for both AMD and Nvidia to come out with complete range of competing cards, then I believe the price would rationalize. Then I see how it goes. If just going by Firestrike result, my current GTX 970 SLI rig setup still above the best (as of today) single GTX 1070 rig by 1,000+ pts. So why would I want to spend RM 2K+ to get roughly the same performance. Because Firestrike is not a game? Some games just do not work with SLI. If that happens, then the other card is basically a brick. Furthermore that 3.5GB debacle is very real (not so much previously but will surely be sooner or later). The only way for the price to decrease is stronger ringgit vs usd.
