Just use Aegisub for this. and ASS are a better option as it's more powerfull and easier. I use this to make Japanese PV subs

I know, that tool also can make subs. And you can also tell it where to put the sub using the GUI. very easy and ASS is a coding that was developed with Direct Vob Sub. Aegisub also support SSA and SRT. thus you don't have to redo all your srt subs

CODE
<b> = bold
<font> = font

As per wikipedia :

QUOTE
Unicode and basic HTML tags such as <i>, <b> and <font> in subtitles are supported by most players, but some subtitle editors (SubResync, Subtitle Workshop) don't handle these tags well. Unfortunately there is no exact specification of the .SRT file format.

Like I said, you need to use ASS as SRT don't support coordinate coding.

why do you want srt? coding wise, it's the same as ASS and SSA. both can be made from scratch by notepad but ASS and SSA has better coding support from VobSub Filter
