Since you have that budget, I suggest Sony RX100 mk3 instead of these 3 options.

Small size, flip screen, fast lens are all you need for travel.

Good idea!

Anyone here using LM-M43 adapter? Any reliable brand to recommend?
The Fotga LM-M43 Adapter that I bought cannot do infinity focus. Sucks!

This is taken by GXR + Voigtlander Nokton 40mm F1.4

I guess in your case infinity focus wasn't achieved at all since it fall short of the sensor plane, i.e. it falls in front of the sensor. Some adapter can be 'trimmed' down a tiny bit to obtain infinity focus, you can try that.

However, if infinity focus is achievable before the focusing ring hits its stop, it can't be changed. No need to get a new adapter but instead just live with it, afterall infinity focus is achieved. Or you can place marks (non-harmful OK?) On the lens barrel where infinity focus is achieved so when you next need it, just turn the focusing ring until the two marks meet. Simple. thumbup.gif

I had the same problem before with an adapter. As a reminder to all who want to get an adapter in the future, please always ask seller if their adapters can achieve IF or not to save all the troubles. rclxub.gif

Hope it helps thumbup.gif

On the trimming part, be careful not to trim too much, always use a medium grid sandpaper for metal (dark color type) start at like 800 or 1000, then finally smoothing out with 2000 or higher.

- place sandpaper on a 100% flat surface like a glass panel
- grab the adapter on one side and place flat on the SP
- don't press too hard but use even pressure and push back n forth for like 4-5 times, check to see its even
- do the same on the other side

Then smooth out, try it out, see if IF is achievable, if negative, reduce the number of strokes, and try again.

Always make sure you smooth out before trying out. You don't want to scratch the mounting on the cam body or the lens.

Good luck!

But thanks for your advise.

Pretty easy actually, just don't apply too much pressure but even pressure does it. You saves some money and you will be proud of what you do.

Get voigtlander adapter considering they listed as official parts in m43 website. Bear in mind that whatever lens u put into it will be multiplied by two... Voigt adapter is pricey but it does it work thumbup.gif

Cropfactor is useful in making small m mount lens into telephoto lens laugh.gif

I also tranfer my lens between oly and Ricoh gxr depending on circumstances. Lack of focus peaking in em5 slows thing down abit tho laugh.gif
*
I remembered there was a technique in turning on Focus Peaking (sort of) when MF in Em5, I did mine when I was using the Em5. Here's the video tutorial links:-

Used that.method once but I don like it.. So end up using the zoom in fn to make sure my photo in focus or not... That the only thing I dislike.. Wish oly implement peaking into first em5 cry.gif Seriously why they don't do it in the first place

So nowadays using gxr with its thumbup.gif Focus peaking to take photo fast while using af lens on em5
*
The magnified view was my preferred method in Em5 also, a little slow but it always nailed it.

Bro, what you mean by this, "Focus peaking to take photo fast while using af lens on em5"

Paiseh. I mean I leave my m.mount lens on gxr as it has focus peaking which allows me to quickly shoot fast. While I use native oly and pana lens on the em5 since they have af function.

If I have time to spare I don mind  out manual focus lens on my oly..

Sad that native voigtlander m43 lens are very expensive. Rather get m mount lens which allows me to use on gxr and em5 but have to factor in crop factor cry.gif
*
Oh I see doh.gif Does the GXR gives FP when in video mode? I just tried the G6 this afternoon to try out the Sigma 60mm and the G6 has it.

I was at one time (when hot in MF lenses) considering voigtlanders but like you said, they are way too expensive for my liking even when I can afford them. But if you are willing to bite it, they are very very good indeed. thumbup.gif

Oops!

Olympus should have implemented FP in Em5 but even without it, Em5 goes on to become one hell of a micro 4/3 camera rclxms.gif

Tbh I actually consider swapping em5 to em1. But considering the pro and cons of both i think that em5 suits me more for my need. I got my em5 used so nth much to complain for the price I paid.

Tbh em5 sucks when come to tracking shots but I only  those kind of shot once or twice per year. I suppose em1 better in that aspect but at expense of added bulk.
The grip featured in m43 rumour seems to be looking good but pricey cry.gif Yet still cheaper than oly ones

My current [wtb] list is voigtlander 50mm f1.5 and probably get oly 35mm f1.8 for street shoot since its compact and fast af shooting. Need to get voiglander Nikon f mount to m43 too since I have some Nikon glasses.
*
Em5 grip is pricey, so are the rest of Oly's and Pana's gears. However, if you don't need the battery pack, you can always get a cheap metallic grip from China, they are very very high quality mind you. When installed, it doesn't make the Em5 that much larger or heavier but the grip is awesome and it can balance-off some lighter lenses like the 40-150R or the kit 12-50 much much better. If you haven't got it yet, here is the one I got from Aliexpress;

BOTAK_WAI and bobds78 does E-m1 really work well on those four thirds lens or they are still better off with four thirds camera like E-5?
*
Some four-thirds lenses are said to perform well on m4/3 bodies but personally I've never tried them for one simple reason only i. e. Why would I want an AF lens from four-thirds that needed an electronic adapter(not cheap) to work on m4/3, not only they are expensive to setup and perform much slower than modern AF lenses? Afterall, new M4/3 lenses are better and faster. So I never get them. Instead, I go for cheaper MF lenses. Em1 such a great body, I think it will work great with any lenses rclxms.gif

But no harm experimenting right? thumbup.gif

I suppose each of us who go for non-native lenses, be it 4/3 or MF lenses, look for lenses with characters that we are after, like film-look, bokeh or speed etc.

i've got no idea, never use b4.

i bet "native" are always better than "adapt" or "convert" smile.gif

Some comparison shots between the Sigma DN 60mm / Panasonic 20mm / Panasonic 12-32, not scientific at all by any means, but the sharpness of the 60mm shines through.

maybe GH4 or maybe my lenses, image quality is lower comparing to FUJI X100S.
*
It might be my tablet, but I noticed the focus seems to be on the man in short backing the camera, seems to be sharper on this man than the rest of the pic, if this is so, you might be using wrong aperture? Just my observations, it could be wrong.
Anyway, great shot! So wide, love it!

Guys, just to clarify the GX8, it's not mine. It's a loan set from Panasonic for review.
Will do my best to compare, but anyone got a em5mk2 to compare the IS?

Price wise, I don't think it would be in the league to compare as it seems the the GX8 is going straight at the EM1 successor. However, the are boasting IS in both video and photos beyond what the EM5mk2 has, so let's see wink.gif
*
Wah so syiok lah you, got to review the GX8 and play play around with the beast, I envy you liao drool.gif

X100s is a great camera. It's also equipped with a top notch processing engine.
