I have always wanted a rangefinder-style camera with an articulating Lcd, that's why I sold my gx7 for a g6. The gx8 has much more features than I could ask for and I have waited quite sometime for it. The only small gripe I have for gx8 perhaps is only the lack of a build-in flash. The gx8 has got many things right for me especially the rotating Lcd as well as a good big grip. I don't mind the larger size and weight. The IBIS + the dual IS is huge for Panny users specially panny lens users. I can see myself using more panny products from now on.

Do you find any noticeable difference in IQ between GX7, G6 and the GX8?

I haven't had the chance to test and examine the IQ between the 3 as that will take some big time effort since I have to dig through my tons of photos to compare them.

However, with the brief time and few shots that I had with the gx8, this I can say:

- The gx8 colors (I am not exactly sure for lack of testing) according to my eyes seems to be richer with sooc images, I don't know if this has to do with the lens I use but all the 3 lenses I have now (25/1.7, 20/1.7 yes I got this devil back & the 12-32+gw1) seems to produce very nice rich colors probably due (I suspect) to the better dynamic range the gx8 outputs from the new sensor which is same as gh4 and of course it's a new 20mp sensor!

The g6 in my last trip although produced a lot of memorable shots the images are quite flat though some are very nice (sorry I can't show them here as they are quite private photos of my family so sweat.gif ). As for the gx7 I can't remember much.

I will be going for a Kinabalu trip this September and hopefully I can put the gx8 to good use then.

Thanks for sharing.

I did read that the newer Panasonic jpegs are more contrasty. Reason I asked is I was contemplating getting a pre-loved GX7 or G6 but hesitant as I don't really wanna spend too much time processing raw.

I also hate spending time processing raw files which i think are job for professionals, or perhaps i will only do it for some special shots for blown-up wall pictures thumbup.gif

Will gx7 overlap with your x-e2?

I went for edge predominantly because of the larger battery. Cos battery > all biggrin.gif

As for overlapping... can't say cos haven't overlapped yet biggrin.gif

The way I look at it is that the XE2 is awful with grabshots, video's meh, sweep panorama like crap and out of balance with zooms.

For outing with the family and kids, m43 still makes more sense since it does everything well enough and take up a fraction of the space/weight.

But shooting the X-E2 is therapeutic when used with primes... it forces a slower pace (without having to pay for film development), thinking before each shot (blardy hell these days I even change DR and shadow tones before shooting a jpeg doh.gif ) and the images... even that of nonsense have so much feels. wub.gif wub.gif

Hence...

More likely to be people just not upgrading nor buying new camera gears.

Taipei situation pretty bad these days... the legendary camera street is now just a shadow of its former glory.

Even my neighborhood camera shop (was the best shop in the world... low prices... big selection... AND friendly lenglui salesgirl) also closed its doors already early this month.

Almost every single camera related item I bought since 2009, I bought from this shop. Am so devastated cry.gif cry.gif
