Why not you try to pair it with Dimarzio? i think you could get lower output but better clean than the EMG

Oic....if i stand on your position....i might let the both EMG-Hz be there but get a high output pickup like Dimarzio since you have two EMG edi....

Well, I'll keep the stocks for a while and see if I need more kick in terms of tone. And besides...... this RR3 will be the "shredding" guitar...... I think the SD's will suit it just fine.......
But I know everdying will complain because it's a bolt-on neck...... but hey.... |

This is where I wonder what the outcome would be if you had an EMG on your bridge position & a DiMarzio/Duncan in the neck position. Anyone tried such combinations b4?

If that's EMG active pickups.....both bridge and neck should be EMG too....not sure if that's passive pickup like EMG-Hz and SD JB....
EDIT: but it think it's quite impossible....coz EMG comes with a humbucking pickup but the SD JB comes with a combonation of two single coil....so that may have some problem in pickup selection or likely canot do this combination... This post has been edited by Criptonox89: Nov 11 2006, 08:29 AM |

Anyone tried such combinations b4? You can't combine active and passive on the same guitar. Different pot values. It is either your EMG will sound correct and your passive will sound like sh*t or vice versa. The idea seems a lot more plausible on an LP though since it has separate volume and tone controls for each pickup but will still be quite a lot of rewiring here and then to get it to work right. Most people who put just one active in the guitar will just leave the other passive disconnected. |

what he can do on the RR3, instead of 1vol 1tone.
have 2 vols, 1 for the active and 1 for the passive. i doubt he'll use the tone anyway. |

It actually already HAS 2 vol and 1 tone...... That's my main reason of getting the RR3...... Always like to have a killswitch type thing....... like my Les Paul

No, it has a big old fender style heel. More people should be adopting the AANJ for bolt on. Makes such a huge difference.
