MORE RIP OFFs!!!!
this time from DATEL!!!!

QUOTE
Datel ripping off homebrew developers Pandora's Battery - Stop the Monster!

It was with great disappointment that we report that DATEL has decided to RIP OFF the work of Team C + D who created Pandora's Battery for all PSP owners for FREE (all the information). Datel has just launched a new range of PSP batteries which do exactly the same as Pandora's Battery and are shifting them for a tidy profit as they have good economies of scales on PSP batteries. Moreover, they have no shame and give absolutely NO CREDIT to the original developers of the software and to see a peripheral maker who manages to squeeze into retail outlets display such unethical business practice is nothing short of disgusting. For such a 'high profile' company to profit off of homebrew hackers work without even so much as a credit is beyond belief, one can only imagine how Dark_Alex, Fanjita (things like this is why he retired from the PSP scene) and the rest of the team will feel. So please join us in putting two fingers up to Datel not only for ripping off the work of hackers but also essentially scamming customers as all the software is FREELY AVAILABLE. Help stamp this out and let it be known that the software is FREE and send out the message that this will not be tolerated.

Many of you who will actually note that it is not the first time Datel has performed such actions. The majority of their 'next generation' products are inspired by the homebrew scene but they take and take and given nothing back. Here is a rundown of a few of Datel's past products relying and essentially exploiting the homebrew development scene -

XSATA (360) - Required the use of the homebrew developed XPLORER 360 software and was eventually packaged in 'officially' only after initial disregard.

MAX Media Player (DS) - A new flash cart for DS which promised media playback on the Nintendo DS as a standard function. Unfortunately it didn't do as promised for quite some time and needed the use of the homebrew Moonshell media player to function.

Games 'N Music (DS) - Where did we see slot 1 all in one DS flash carts already? Secondly this product is 100% reliant on homebrew released software with various Official 'mini sites' promoting a number of homebrew games and applications.

Datel Drive Doctor (Wii) - The cleverly packaged Wii mod chip utilizing the same method that was posted on the internet far in advance of the release of this product - "It's fun! And as the Wii home brew scene grows and prospers, the device will also come in handy for playing freely-downloadable software straight from your console." And a day after its release some 'russian hackers', released a rip of some mod code which maked it compatible with the this product - coincedence? Maybe but the fact they haven't released anything since is typical hit and run tactics...
im so grateful i stopped buying their oriproducts shakehead.gif doh.gif vmad.gif

I did, in Imbi Mario. Sold for RM 700. Black and White colored version.

At first it doesn't attract me that much. Overall feeling is rather awkward. The back cover is glossy, just as same as the front face. I prefer the old back cover.

Asked Connie for the older PSP. That's when the differences matters. I don't mind the thickness/depth, but the weight....."ringan giler!!!". Ada duit confirm sambar.

Wow..RM700 only?

Thats a nice price for the PSP Slim. Now, would the older gen PSP drop its pricing soon? LOL...

I have seen Play-Asia having the PSP Slim FF7:CC edition for sale for only about RM1400.Nice price indeed...

Hard to say. As of yesterday, the older version sells for RM 20 lesser than the newer model. That'll change depends on availability and whether the newer models can be moded or not ( like when the inability of modding of the 2.81 psp increases the price of psp's with lesser version numbers. )
Consoles makers are getting creative in protecting the inventions. That shop has 10 unsold newer Japanese Wii's which can't be moded.

But there are some improvements made to the new PSP Slim, right? And I heard that there's a PSP Lite also, what the difference between Slim and Lite?

when the new PSP design was "speculated" or somethin, they called it PSP lite. But the name for it now is PSP slim.

you shouldn't put the extra RAM a main factor when considering to purchase the PSP slim. Gamespot recently tested the PSP slim on some games and the result wasn't that promising. About 20% difference at most and one of the test actually returned an increased amount of load time whistling.gif

I'm more interested in the improvement of battery life in PSP slim/lite. Wonder how much more the battery can last considering that it's higher clocked than its sibling.

About the battery life thingy, this is how it works :

Basically, Sony is CLAIMING that the new PSP Slim is going to have a better battery saving option, thus, prolonging the life of the battery. This in turn, leads to a longer battery life.

However, with this feature, Sony has decided to include a lower wattage battery (IIRC, around 1200mAH) for the new PSP Slim, instead of the usual 1800mAH on the older PSP. In this case, it WILL have a shorter battery life when compared to the older PSP.

Both cases compared together, both PSP and PSP Slim are rated to have fairly similar battery consumption and life.

With this being said, Sony also CLAIM that the new PSP Slim is able to use the older, thicker battery from the PSP which will provide higher wattage (1800mAH compared to 1200mAH) and thus, this will be able to give you more battery life. One down side to this is, the older gen battery is going to be thicker and you WILL NOT be able to close the battery cover of the PSP Slim. Sony said that they will develop a new battery cover, for the PSP Slim to solve this problem BUT, the battery side will still be thicker than usual..

So, make your choice there..

Regarding your question on whether we can use the Slim PSP battery on the older gen PSP or not, well, i am also not sure. But by looking at the theoretical point behind this, i doubt you will want to use it even if its possible. Its because you will have a smaller wattage battery on a more power consuming PSP and thus, even shorter battery life than what you have currently... smile.gif
