Greetings to all Swift owners smile.gif

1.) I am currently doing some research on Swift itself. I have heard from my friends that the spare parts apparently are abit pricey comparing to other automobile brands, how true is that yea?

2.) And I also seen quite a number of people complaining about burning smell after revving the engine on highway, does it apply to older version of Swift? or the newly facelift one face the same problem?

3.) SS 1.5 : 101hp, 133Nm @ 4,400rpm, weigh 1,030kg
City IDsi : 88hp, 131Nm @2,700rpm, (SOHC 8V with CVT 7-Speed), weigh around 1,060kg
City I-Vtec : 120hp, 145Nm @ 4,800rpm, weigh 1,160kg
Vios Dugong : 109hp, 141Nm @ 4,200rpm, weigh 1,050kg
MyVi SE : 87hp, 116Nm @ 3200rpm, weigh 960kg (copied from a forum)

Can someone explain the HP, Nm@ rpm meaning to me?

basically is the higher the better... higher hp, aka housepower = better pick up and acceleration

I cant give you much opinion because I have not encounter any faulty parts and never wish to happen. I believed it's reasonable for them charging high on parts; first of all is average car sales target....and one of way to increase revenue is from after sales side.

2.) And I also seen quite a number of people complaining about burning smell after revving the engine on highway, does it apply to older version of Swift? or the newly facelift one face the same problem?

There was a few discussion on this before, SC can help on that by adjusting something. I have same issue but no big deal for me.

3.) SS 1.5 : 101hp, 133Nm @ 4,400rpm, weigh 1,030kg

thanks ^Ware^Wolf & Chisinlouz for the information. I totally agree Chisinlouz what you meantioned, about the after sale part. Are you guys driving the older version swift or the new facelift one? smile.gif

Frankly speaking, I'm comparing Suzuki Swift and Honda Jazz. IMO, I only feel that Im paying higher price of Jazz to get more space comparing to Swift. Other than that, I feel that the new facelift swift has better pick up compared to Jazz.

I drive zc72s, first batch CBU, 4 disk brakes smile.gif

Before decide i think your budget is not an issue. Lets think about pactical usage. Ie:

-will u fetch many ppl? Family car? Have baby? Adults?
-do u change car frequently? Will resale value matter to u?
-will the car fully city drive? Drive in central or rural area? Frequent traveler?
-u carry lots of stuff? Need big bonet?

These are some factor u may want think about for s.swift. The new facelift version seems cheap but pending announcement.. have a test drive and try find out best discount/value before decide. smile.gif

1)yes pricier.. Apparently, the servicing itself already a killer.. A hybrid toyota costs only 400 the most to service for 10k km.. Swift? 10k km needs 3 servicing totalling about 1k..

2)old generation no problem.. So solid no rattle.. No burning smell..

3) nm means torque = pulling power
Hp= more to higher speed
Rpm= the engine rev

Based on ur selection..most prolly vios has the best acceleration cause the torque is high..lower than city..but the lower body weight offsets the lack of 4nm.. And also depends on gearing..

I do a research, all the info from oversea. some said cat converter causing this, some said transmission fluid overflow causing this, some said plastic wire near to engine manifold melt causing this.... all and all I check, no overflow, no nearby plastic/wire melt, cat converter>> cant try.

my car still under warranty, have to use ori part from Suzuki. Btw, I just have my 20k service and change the aircon filter, cost me RM150. They also claim anti bacteria and so on, but I still can smell the burning/ alcohol rubbing smell now even not rev at highway.

Whatever you stated above are info I also gathered when I got my Swift Sport 1.5 yrs ago. There is another thing I noticed, the smell eventually becomes lesser and lesser. Also, certain type of petrol gives stronger smell. When I switched from Shell RON 97 to BHP 95/97, the smell also reduced (not totally gone away, but reduced a lot even when revving about 3000 rpm)

Agreed. My car is about 2 years on 50k km, smell lesser already during 3k RPM, unless rev more than that.
Im on BHP too but recently FC weird after change Castro EO in Puchong during May.

With 2-3 litre difference after petrol price changes, RM50 per pump can last only 250km - 350km... very inconsistent. sad.gif

Hi owners - trying to source 2008 Swift front bumper. Wifey got into minor accident and front bumper koyak cannot reattach. Tried Garage Sale / mudah / lelong but none available..

Was quoted 3k for bumper + full body respray by Suzuki Jalan 222. Think bumper alone is 1.4k sad.gif

On another note, has anyone ever do a complete interior reupholster (carpets, lining, seat covers etc.)?

Hi, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately going by per piece each body kit dont cost cheap. I did my back bumper about 1.8k include respray (pearl white so higher charge).

There is someone doing the reupholster but in leather... try look for it cos i dont really remember where the thread is.

My mum is looking for a small car below 70k, right now driving a Honda City. I would like to know how much is service in Suzuki (normal and major), interval and fuel consumption (since it has 4 gears only) smile.gif Already test drove the latest face lift and it is fun to drive, I like hydraulic steering.

Hmm yea I have gone through all these questions, and I will be driving alone most of the time. And I guess this car would last me for at least 6years and above. I usually drive in city as it is my working area (how does this affect my decision yea?).

How come the major service requires 3 times? Any reason for that? Thanks for the information smile.gif, helps alot in clearing my doubts haha. What about the minor services? how much does it usually cost you?

P/S: Sorry for the double post, I still dont know how to quote two person in one reply, anyone mind teach me?
