Yo!

Not sure right place to ask opinion, currently planning a proposal.

1. Rooftop proposal during dinner via vacation
2. Dinner by beachside with romantic setup via vacation

Above will cause me a bomb. Air tixs + accomodation + setup = 2K to 3K depending.

3. Ignore all the above, save the budget and do a simple high class dinner proposal in KL. Use the money for wedding rings or wedding preparation.

Ofcourse, budget matters la. IF doesnt matter I gonna propose in the moon.

Bro, how much you got? You know how much wedding cost in total? I didn't do much on proposal other than simple dinner. Something always DIY cardboard... the photo sessions cost me a bomb, the luncheon cost me a bomb, the honeymoon the biggest bomb... not include the ring yet.

The proposal ring cost 8k, photo sessions plus upgrade on wedding dress (limited) cost me 10k [when she ask for nicer dress/limited edition, will you say no? tongue.gif ]

The lunch cost me 16k in total plus almost 800 just GST. 18 tables. But I got half of that back via ang pau. That not include the wedding preparation if you are chinese, cakes, candles etc.... can't even trace the final cost...

well, I must said the final 20k spend on honeymoon worth the money though. 2 weeks in Japan (Tokyo-Kyoto-Wakayama-Osaka) laugh.gif

I have roughly 25k excluding rings and etc.

My parents rushing me to tie the knot ASAP. My excuse is i havent really saved up but they will sponsor me 100k ask me not to worry. My gf and i sort of talked about it and agreed to have a simple wedding. Btw, we are Buddhist and come from traditional chinese families. My idea is to have a nice place with buffet style, a stage, a band and everyone just makan and drink, chit chat.

Thinking to go away with traditional sit down chinese style dinner. Both of us really felt sayang to spend luxuriously on wedding where we can save up the balance and dp a property or something for our future. Ofcourse we still have out photoshoto, maybe 1 outdoor and 1 studio. No need travel to Japan or Korea just for photoshoot.

Actually my thread is just a beginning of my plan, the proposal.

Just want to get opinions on my ideas.

1. Beach proposal or a rooftop bar proposal via vacation.

or

Cincai do a fancy dinner in KL and save up.

since you got backup in finance, then can go to beach lolz... nice and romantic enough brows.gif .

I know you want to propose, but I just want to remind you that nowadays, marriage really cost a bomb!! My proposal ring cost a lots as well. Did not expect such a huge expenses needed for whole wedding. Just wanna share bad financial planning from me doh.gif cause did not expect all of the expenses needed. AND both my wife (gf that time) and I said exactly the same thing - we want it simple... and then, pressure from both parents, and then aunties/uncles add salt and vinegar... I considered simple liao, my friend even hired Wedding Planner with 60 tables!! Oversea photoshoot some more - wa piang eh doh.gif

No offense brother. All the best in your proposal.

thanks bro, yeaps.. really need to discipline on planning and spending. Spend those that I can afford and try not to care about other ppl's influence.

Gonna only invite close families from both side and buddies from both sides. Not even gonna invite colleagues/bosses.

Maybe i am lucky to have my parents whom can afford to sponsor. But its not easy, having to use parents money for own marriage.
Gonna try to cover as us as possible. Worst come to worst if they insist traditional sit down chinese dinner and invite everyone then the 100k will be used for it. IF angpao can cover then no need use it.

Just an insurance.

it depends your partner's preference.

is she someone who prefer quiet environment or merry environment with tons of friends. It is not necessary to be expensive

I done mine on 1/1/2015 in bkt jalil park with using jogging training as excuse. She is a person who likes running and natural park.

Helium Balloon (30 peaces about RM180 if not mistaken)
36 roses (RM120) - friends is a florist
support crew - friends = free
photographers - friends = free
lunch after the proposal = RM200

it is memorable bcos it was the first place where we have our first run together.

All the best TS smile.gif

please la,

But i know it can be done according to own's affordability,

1. Ignore what ppl will think.
2. It's ur wedding not theirs
3. Mutual understanding of current financial situation btwn you and ur fiance. Lets not use money as excuse of not having a family tongue.gif

Thanks for the input.

For me i am hopeless romantic kind of person but i do surprise her with some romantic events and stuff. Both of us would prefer a quiet environment.

But now i headache how to get someone to help take pictures or video of the moment. Flowers and decor hotel can help.

Another problem, i am bringing the wedding ring along to the trip and worried it might get lost. Takkan spend additional just to buy a presentable spare to bring there.

IF doesnt matter I gonna propose in the moon.

my hubby proposed to me on Phi Phi island beach.....with him down on bended knees, the angmoh crowds whistling and clapping hands...I can't say no...
