I have just rooted my note 4 successfully using Chainfire (able to use Titanium Backup and SuperSU), however I don't seem to be able to use the system recovery (by pressing vol up+power+home). Every time I do that it shows a dead android creature (that green mascot) lying down, and at the bottom indicating "dm-verity verification failed...". I can't flash any zip files too.

I have tried unroot, hard reset and root again, still I encounter the same thing. Any advice from all sifu?

other than iCarez tempered glass screen protector that does not have the HALO effect, what other brands that are available to us that dont have the HALO effect?

currenly i am using Nillkin ANti Blue Light tempered glass. can clearly see the HALO around the sides. my note 4 is ori SME set black color.

Afaik, only icarez guarantees no halo. The rest, most likely will and unfortunately, black is the most likely to have halo.

For Note 4 - don't waste any money on others but iCarez - enuff said.

so if it does not halo means it sticks well to the phone am i right? dust cant seep under it right?

Halo is because ur screen is not flat at the edges. Its a 2.5 dimension screen.

And yes, no halo means its 100% stuck onto the screen.

No I don't mean nandroid backup. I'm trying to say my vol up+power+home page seem to be different, and I can't flash any zip file at all, not from that page, and not even Flashify

in order to flash zip files/custom rom/kernels etc, you need custom recovery, be it TWRP or CWM, after you root look for an app called flashify on play store, and you will also need the custom recovery file as well, search it in XDA

You need Custom recovery to flash files. Either CWM or TWRP.
Flash cwm recovery tar file using odin first. Than only flash twrp.img file using flashify app if you need twrp
TWRP I find is much better as CWM seems had problem flashing files from ext sdcard

In other words, even though I have rooted the phone using Chainfire, I still need to flash CWM/TWRP using Odin first, before attempting to flash any zip files?

Im no pro and i have trouble rooting my own device (lol) but based on the advise and what i read, yes, u r right.

Root
Flash twrp/cwm
then flash whatever rom

If you just want root only, just flash Chainfire CFRoot through Odin in PC. It just takes a few seconds to root phone

If you had plans to flash rom, than custom recovery is needed. Many ways to do it

1. Odin flash Chainfire CWM recovery tar file
2. TWRP - use odin to flash TWRP tar file
3. TWRP - after flash CWM recovery, use flashify app to flash twrp.img file. Apparently some users reported failure to flash TWRP directly using the flashify app over stock recovery

I actually worry, i fail at 1 part. Example, step 3 as u mentioned. If flashify fail to flash twrp... what m i gonna do???

Thats why i havent root/flash

In case of any fail flash, just remove battery and restart phone
G4 already sold ! Afaik no MarcYeo contacted me as most contacts don't reveal name through whatsapp/SMS

Seriously it is IMPOSSIBLE to hard brick a Samsung phone during root or flash custom recovery
