be contented with your Godly car. you should save the money for property or other investment. i regretted wasting more than 150k on changing cars when i could have just continue driving the older car and use the money for investment.

Thanks for reminding but for this few years don't think will invest any property coz the "bubble" is growing bigger scare of one day will burst. Have some backup cash for investing others. No worries |

I saw the new Ford Mustang 2.3 litre EcoBoost is coming out end of this year or beginning of next year.
I would like to know could I get the loans? If I down payment more than 10%. Since I don't have any debt or what. I saw the review is freaking AWESOME |

QUOTE(ngchuenlow @ Jun 25 2015, 06:12 PM) More luxurious and faster? I guess? I would like to have Ford Mustang 2.3 litre EcoBoost. But need you guys recommend Then I suggest you better focus first on trying to increase your income quadruple times before having any such thoughts. For just 7k+ salary, better just stick to your Vios or the same category. You already seem to have a good position anyway, getting a relatively new car from the company, why then waste money to buy your own car?? I tell you, having a company car is the best even though it's only a Vios! |

That is reserved for those rich people only. Unless you're ok to just buy relatively cheap (<rm50k) simple used cars and built it as a hobby. |

Ive seen many people with good salary but really bad in spending and investment.
For ts, dont overspend your money just for the car. With that salary at your age and current situation, you can live a pretty comfortable life if you know how to spend your money wisely. |

Well you can just buy a 2nd hand 2 door car and modify. Fancy enough? You can definitely maintain it at your salary range.

Yup. Buy something fancy second hand. Bad FC? Don't care. Maintenance expensive, takes long time to source parts and repair? Don't care.
Old SLK. Old Porsche. Old Supra, RX7, ... Anything. Buy cash, no need to worry about loan. New cars are for people who need a reliable transport and thus are willing to spend more on it. But since you have got a reasonable A to B car and want something fun for the weekend... if it falls out for a weekend or two who cares. |

QUOTE(MeToo @ Jun 26 2015, 11:02 AM) Huh... I thought it was very clear. I'm just curious, cause different ppl have their own approach on this, some ppl prefer to stretch their term to longest possible so their monthly commitment on car will not take out so much of their quota for housing loan especially for those middle income category IF you NEED to loan 9 years, it shows you are actually financially NOT capable of buying/maintaining that car. 5 yrs MAX. 3 yrs should be better once you settled down and have a family and is financially stable/have other responsibility. While some other would just stretch their loan period to longest possible so they can afford a bigger car for show off/ enjoy luxurious life. I can't say any of these were wrong, because everyone have their own approach on this. |

I dont need to "Stretch" it out to 9 yrs cause I can clearly afford the truck easily. Those who needs to "show off" well.. its up to them, again, those clearly cannot afford those cars. For eg, I hang around with ppl who have 2~3 porsche, AMGs, etc... how am I suppose to "impress" anyone by selling my kidney to buy a porsche myself? Just cause you can eat maggi and buy a car with 9 yrs loans... doesnt mean you can AFFORD the car... |

Different people different approach. Some people might think the interest is low, the interest is around 5% or higher for second hand car, if they can get better return from investment that the interest rate, just loan max amount and max period. While some other would just stretch their loan period to longest possible so they can afford a bigger car for show off/ enjoy luxurious life. I still couldn't agree that we can simply judge someone's affordability to own a car by only based on the term of their car loan, there are more factors that contribute to their affordability, or else there wouldn't be any car loan approved by bank beyond 5 years term. I think its a matter of how one manage and plan for their wealth. For those who got their fancy car taken back by bank, they have to blame their way of managing their wealth, bank trusted them based on what they have submitted, but they screwed it. But still, buy a car that fulfill your basic requirements, not be a slave for it. |

7k per month, BUT it depend on your down payment from your SAVING on previous effort.
subaru wrx put a 100k downpayment, then monthly just RM2000 for 6 years loan at 3% rate- example. still left RM5000 to play and save..... This post has been edited by fong928: Jun 26 2015, 02:49 PM |

Hi bro, Sorry to burst your bubble of dreams, But I think it's best you better use this calculator Car Loan Repayment Calculator and use this another calculator: Car Loan Affordability Calculator if you really wanna go for that RM 350K Mustang, of which, you probably would definitely pull back your ideas after using the calculator. Be thankful you are still single and available. Unlike some of us, married with kids. |

QUOTE(zero5177 @ Jun 26 2015, 02:30 PM) Wow... Buy new truck for hobby Have to agree with metoo.. If u cant afford a 5 years loan.. U cant afford the car. Its not mean that u have to take 5 years.. Can take 9 years. But 5 years installment as a reference. Why? Because stuff start to fall apart after 5 years.. The installment money will have to uae for maintenance later. I personally wont buy anything that i cant afford in a five years loan. Yea.. You can says every year got increment.. U also need to consider if dont have..somemore u need to consider money devalue. Anyhow. Its ur money.. 9 years loan for a car.. Is a big no for me.However, you may have your point here, but sorry... Does not mean I won't take loan but it means I would not have any problem to settle the loan anytime if I want or if necessary.Just like I'm waiting to buy a new truck for my hobby use now, I plan to take a 3 yr loan, sure I can pay cash but I dont want to stir the LHDN and also I dont want to tied up too much of my cash pool. |

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Jun 26 2015, 05:45 PM) Hi bro, Hahaha. Thank for the calculator bro. Not planning so fast to get in relationship or even marry. Since I'm 21. Still more way to go brotha! 😁Sorry to burst your bubble of dreams, But I think it's best you better use this calculator Car Loan Repayment Calculator and use this another calculator: Car Loan Affordability Calculator if you really wanna go for that RM 350K Mustang, of which, you probably would definitely pull back your ideas after using the calculator. Be thankful you are still single and available. Unlike some of us, married with kids. |

QUOTE(MeToo @ Jun 26 2015, 11:02 AM) Huh... I thought it was very clear. 7 years ok tak??IF you NEED to loan 9 years, it shows you are actually financially NOT capable of buying/maintaining that car. 5 yrs MAX. 3 yrs should be better once you settled down and have a family and is financially stable/have other responsibility. |

Many of my friends who are earning more than RM10k in basic, not commission based are only driving a less than RM150k car. And here we have someone who earns RM2.5k with RM5k commission wanting a RM350k car. Considering that commission is never fixed, buying a RM350k just sounds absurd and just plain bad economic fundamentals. At age 21, he will learn it the hard way .. unless of course he has rich parents to fall back on, which many kids these days have.
It's his money, why should we care. He should just buy whatever he likes. Give the Mustang a test, and if you like it and if you feel like it makes you a man, buy. You only live once. My week old 2015 WRX STI was bought cash .. after selling my FD2R. Nice to be debt free. And at age 21, he wants to experience what owing loads of money to the bank feels like, so be it. |

QUOTE(ngchuenlow @ Jun 25 2015, 05:37 PM) Hi guys, recently came up with a thought of getting a new car but not sure and dont know which i would be afford. So maybe you guys can give me suggestion here? in was in your situation before and i wished someone advised me from getting a car . instead , get a property first . Ask papa / mama's help to pay downpayment for a house and invest in that . with ur income , u can own 3 x 200k property ( Cheap apartments ) which has good rental yield . car is something u look at when u r 32 . Guys priorities getting cars to increase the chances to get girls ... but when comes to life , u need someone that are willing to look beyond ur monetary wealth . So get car at later stage in life . |

Hmmm ...
Banker might only approve your car's monthly installment MAX RM1200 based on your salary RM2500+RM1500 (30% Commission). You can go for C segment car with around 110k. but ... since you are blank in any commitment record, no credit card no properties, no car record ... you need a guarantor to back you up. between ... forget about your Mustang ... I cant afford it with my 15k salary |

Just my 2 cents as my professions Okay, back to the topic, i suggest TS should opt for <150k car (mainly Civic, Altis, M3 etc) are good choices. Now a days properties dont ever go invest for my opinion is not good right now. =D Anyways Thank you guys! Cars value will always drop but property value still increases. You invest in property, keep it for 5yrs, can sell for big profit. Once you got that profit, then start thinking to buy better cars for fun. If you buy a car (which you actually don't need coz yo already have a FREE car from company), 5 yrs later your car value is probably only 50% of the price you pay now and yet you still have to pay for the loans while your reselling price is actually already below your outstanding loan. Now do you think that's good??Anyway we can only advice to the best of our knowledge and experience. Like McFD2R said, it's your money it's your life, it's your choice. If you make a wise choice then it's you who will benefit, vice versa if you make a poor choice, it's also you who will suffer. |

If just at weekend car, that means hardly drive. Just buy any 2 doors convertible
No need to take new one, coz you tend to lose a lot. Just get a good condition used car will do. And in most cases their condition is quite good coz most ppl buy convertible as weekend or hobby car, just buy and stare, hardly drive. Like my case I got a first gen SLK where past owner already loss like mad. And it holds up well in value now as it's classified as classic car now. Just buy and drive. When I open the top, even owners of A5 stare over, haha |

No wonder the bankruptcy rate in Malaysia is rising year by year, and majority were due to hire purchase debts with younger generation. Sorry to say that, TS is day-dreaming, and dreaming very high. A typical young generation mentioned above. Basic salary of 2.5k aiming for 400k+ car, wonder what TS is smoking there. Good luck !

With 2.5k salary you only can apply loan up to 100k, my advise is you save one year salary 50k or 100k to pay for the downpayment, get a Mercedes better, the best or nothing, 200-300k should not a big issue. I now 23, thinking to get a property first ~

I booked a 470k house and it needs 2.3k a month for 30 years. OP has 7k a month so that slashed to 4.5k if he bought a Modern Teres/reban ayam condo in kl. Minus another 1k a month on loan for house's accessories/security then he's already labelled kategori miskin bandar.
Anda hanya layak pemotongan 700 sebulan maksimum untuk pinjaman kereta, OP. |

Wow!..weekend lessons in personal financial management..Buy and own a house 1st..car can come later on..the best you can afford when there's spare cash to fling around. I advised my son and DIL exactly that..good cars come by very easily, good and ideal homes don't..Meanwhile this old man here awaiting for the LRT in my area to be fully operational!..
