Seems like alkaline water was not being discussed actively discussed here.
Having trouble to convince my parents not to buy a Kangen for 12K while Panasonic has its highest spec of ionizer selling for 5k. So if I were to take alkaline water (insisted by parents who brainwashed by salesman, I surf through and see no harm having alkaline water), I think the best set-up here locally I can have is to get, one Aquaphor Solo (as strongly recommended ) for 1st filtering process, then a Panasonic Alkaline Ionizer for for 2nd processing. Any comment? |

How much is the replacement cartridge?Sounds good and within budget, but the 3M C-Complete replacement cartridge seems like its being sold for almost RM300, wow. Seems expensive for replacement cartridge. Or am I looking at the wrong place? Thanks for the suggestion ya! remember someone posted cost of replacing cartridge for 3M vs Aquaphor vs Espring Espring price is about RM4K right? |

QUOTE(hestati @ Apr 23 2019, 01:12 PM) Friends, this is mainly related to plumbing and PoE, but may help some. No advantage when it came to exposing it under sunlight? I mean Buteline looks a lot thicker and robust than PVC? or they are almost the same?Try not to use buteline pipes, no matter how much contractors are promoting them. Buteline are highly commercialized pipes, meaning they are heavily promoted by 1 company. And they go out and pay bloggers and reviewers to give positive review of their product, just like 1 of the tactics. I am not sure what they offer to the contractors who use their pipes, but seeing how hard these contractors push their product, these must be some good incentives. Is buteline bad? Not that I know, there is nothing wrong with it, but it does not offer any significant advantages over PVC, but cost is significantly higher. Working on these pipes requires special clamping tools, 1 tool per size, there are 7 or so sizes and each tool costs over 200RM. So basically it costs you more, does not offer you any significant advantage and "locks" you with the contractor who installed them for you (unless you want to run around and look for someone else who can work with these). Fittings are separate issue, when PVC fitting is 0.5-1RM, Buteline fittings can cost 6-10RM for 1. Basically buteline is only great for the contractor who installs them, they are easy to work with (once you have all the tools) and offer high margin. They are popular in countries like NZ, AU and UK, because labor is so expensive, that buteline price vs pvc pipe does not make a huge difference. Here is a quote from 1 of the NZ forums: So to answer your question about using polybutylene today in New Zealand: As long as there isn't much chlorine in the water, and as long as the fittings that they are using will last, and as long as the quality control of the pipe manufacturer is excellent, and that they are using virgin PB resins, etc, |

QUOTE(Max @ Jan 3 2020, 10:05 AM) Last week DIY install poe sand filter. How tall is sand filter? is this standard size?house already use 'external' ABS piping (previous owner installed) the outside pipe direct sunlight already getting crack. changed to poly pipe. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « hm.. looks like i forgot to put stopcock valve there.. so easier to shut off water.. So you bought the sand filter for how much? During my back washing recently, I found that the water came out was not yellowish like it was, so I think my sand filter must have spoiled at back wash valve section (top area) QUOTE(NightFelix @ Dec 30 2019, 11:28 AM) Get sand based external filter, look for FRP or Stainless Steel Vessel type. Flush yourself monthly, the media inside replace only 5-10 years range. hi what's FRP? about 3 years since it was installed, mine was fitted with poly pipe, but the sand filter was a gift so, never really bother until recently the back washed water seems to be a lot cleaner Searched around, yeah, I guess FRP is fibre glass reinforced tank is that right? Stainless steel type cost a lot more that the fibre glass one, is aesthetic the only reason? cause what I know is that fibre glass reinforced material is very durable too. QUOTE(hestati @ Apr 20 2020, 01:23 PM) Yes, FRP is nowadays used for pretty much all the tanks. Normally FRP will degrade under the sun, but manufacturers will protect it against UV, but it is not 100% protection. Unless you are planning to keep the same filter for 10 years, no need to worry. You can also just make a custom cover for it from any cheap polyester material. I see, thanks, so if the price is not much different with same inner sand, then should get a stainless steel one, betul? OKQUOTE(Max @ Apr 20 2020, 08:42 PM) I think around 280 like that.. bring home. kopi gao, mine used to be this colour, long time never see this colour of back washed waterSize if not wrong 44"x 9" (or 10"). Heres after i think 2 or 3 weeks usage. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(bbhing98 @ Apr 29 2020, 11:38 AM) 1. landed or condo? landed 2. how many pax in your household? 3, but another 3 pax will return home twice a month(stay in uni dorm) 3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house? no 4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?) yes 5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth? 40/month 6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k? as low as possible 7. do you own external water filter yet? nope 8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water? already got coway water dispenser, looking for PoE/PoU filter Recently I realize that the water coming out from the tap (into the shower water tank) looks brownish, probably got mud or sediment. Thinking whether I should install a filter outdoor or before my water tank. I had my piping re-done around my house compound using HDPE pipe externally previously due to leaking issue so the HDPE pipe is exposed(easier to install filters). Also, what is the pros and cons of PoE and PoU filters? if i use PoU filter then i will have approximately 8 filters to install at all the taps at dry kitchen, wet kitchen, 3 toilet taps, 3 shower taps. Do note that I have an existing coway water dispenser already so the filters do not need to be very clean to the extent of drinking. previously i have used a outdoor sand filter but due to some problem, my parents removed it and bypassed the piping. Would prefer something low cost and low upkeep/maintenance cost I thought outdoor sand filter is very cheap to maintain? I used the backwash water to flower the plants and grass twice a week |
