basically you pay for the sampan. its like a taxi. you dont have to buy anything. i went late. but just wanted to ronda the river. not to buy anything. all the shop boats already cabut. hahah. but nice ride down the river. got to feed the giant fish.

how much need to pay for the sampan? how long will the ride last or can sit as long as you want? then if 1 2 stop and look around leh how?? sometimes interested in a shop then 1 2 browse a little longer at that particular shop right? how to tell r?

dont woli that much, Thai people are generally very friendly n helpful, they usually wil try their best to help when u ask them something. i met wif a few that got very good sense of humor too.  biggrin.gif

those who do business usually know some basic english... well u can safely bet that they know words like 'how much', 'cheap', 'discount', 'good', etc.  biggrin.gif  n yes, u can bargain everything in the markets there.

having say that, of coz its always good to know some basic thai, such as :

hello -> sawadikap
thank you -> krap kum kap
how much -> tao rai

* cant sure the totally correct pronunciation though.  tongue.gif

greet n thanks the local in thai, n they'll impressed !  i once bought something from a lady, after i paid i thanked her in thai, she was like 'OMG WTF i'm impressed' n gave me another 100 baht discount. biggrin.gif

very friendly?? I have heard many negative comments like how dangerous that place is and how you can get rob..also how the peddlers trying to cheat non locals...I really not sure and recently with the protests.. Is it still safe to go in march?? Is bangkok more dangerous than KL or JB?? If i talk to the locals or maybe the train ticket officer they can understand english?? plz advice..thanks

Yeah, usually they aren't very big(young) so its easy to fry and bite on.  Think of it like erm... really crunchy... chicken?  Hahhahaa, although chicken prolly might not be the right taste for it.  I suggest trying without the chili 1st then the chili after.

If you can find it, try the snake blood too.
*
u try b4?? can share the experience your first time?? i dun think is like chicken cuz no meat rite...does it stink?? and snake blood?? this 1 i really not tempted..hehe..like vampire and i dun think it will taste great... y try without chilli first?? with chili not nice?
