Oh, I'm not sure if they're at the same place...there are a few floating markets. Admission to grand palace is not expensive. I think it's better to go separately and hire a boat to the floating markets when you're at the pier. It says in the Lonely Planet that it's about 250baht per hour.

if you're going to platinum, would be good to pay a visit to the pratunam market as well, its just across the road from platinum mall.
also if you like electronics and stuff, you could check out pantip plaza, its just next door. these locations are in the pratunam area,
if you're going by bts, get off at ratchathevi station. its on the sukhumvit line which heads up towards mo chit. remember NOT to
change trains at siam.

don't forget to pay a visit to the higher end shopping malls like paragon. its really a pavillion equivalent, but remember that every
city is different, and bangkok with an estimated population in the xx,xxx,xxx digits I'm sure you'll find a variety and more up to date
apparels than you would in malaysia.

man anything can happen in bangkok, i once saw an obese falang slappin a tiny thai lady. stuff like these usually get him beaten up
i didn't stick around to see what happened to him though

but you're right about falang guys going with the ugliest women, the falang would look okay, not ugly not handsome but still he goes
with the ugliest, just cannot imagine what is happening.

yeah i've experienced those funky looks from the guards and all. the face thing is really important to thais, you'll find some of the good
girls reluctant to go to certain places on sukhumvit when its at night.

First time visitors to thailand, take note that to Wai is like shaking hands. Don't Wai strangers and definitely do not Wai the waiters,
waitresses, bell boy, receptionists.
There are a lot of social rules associated with the act of Wai-ing, like for example people of lower social rank usually Wai those of higher
ranks first and things like that. Foreigners like you and me are exempted from Wai-ing, so try not to Wai.
