when r u goin to bangkok? where u stay?
*
going 6th march stay watana mansion.. how about u?

QUOTE(wiNd @ Feb 19 2009, 10:34 PM)
i guess there are 2 types of taxi service around airport area.

1. operator at stand, check destination with you, give u a receipt/slip (cost of fare), get a taxi > go
2. wave your own taxi, use meter all the way

btw, for limo-type, it will cost more than standard taxi (altis)
*
the operator stand buy will b more expensive than wave hand 1 or same price?

some of the operator stand by ones are also by the meter. i always go all the way downstairs before looking for the taxi. there is one right outside. but those are the expensive ones i think.
*
wut u mean by go downstairs before looking for taxi??

wat u haf downstairs?? so u usually take meter 1 or booth 1?

Will be going to BKK early next month. Purely shopping trip! Wondering, besides shopping expenses.... how much roughly i need to spend for food, accomodation, eat and transport????
*
i also going early next month... when u going?

QUOTE(stimix @ Feb 23 2009, 09:06 AM)
The hotel, if u pre-booked & paid for, should be excluded from the expenses. So pressuming u hv pre-booked.

You might want to reserve RM200-RM500 on shoppings (Anyway except for local products, souvenirs, or those sundries mfg in Thaialand such as shampoos, soap & etc) ..Others are more or less similar to KL pricing or more expensive)...transport depending whether u want to venture further to Floating market or Ayuttahya , if yes, probably budget RM200 there..Thereafter general transportations should be ~RM20/day, food probably around RM15/day/pax, so total ~RM800 for 5D4N in Bangkok...Well that's the amt I brought in & yet still having balance of ~RM200! (Hehe..my shoppings turns up only buying something <RM100...nothing interesting to buy.. sad.gif )

i prebook but din pay yet wor... ok r?

Whoooaa u fail your math!  biggrin.gif

Pretty normal-lah. Normally Money changer will post we sell 100 (unit) Thai Bath to RM10.45. So meaning every 100thai bath u need RM10.45 to buy...so if u pay RM10 only u will be getting 95.7THB -That's the current rate from Wawasan at Mid Valley  biggrin.gif

That's is why I say after coversion, Things in Bangkok might not be cheap! a souvenir T-shirt at 90bath is actually RM9.50 inh Malaysia!
*
no i mean before going over bangkok i wanna change money at money changer.. then how come ppl say the rate money changer give higher then i get more money?? i tot rate lower i get more money cuz i spend less to buy 100 baht..

when the money changer negotiate they say ok la i give 9.57 rather 9.5 then he will give me more money.. but on the board write 100 baht = how many RM

My review on bangkok..

Pros: Friendly and polite ppl, uncountable places of interest including out of town, shopping haven, clean environment (difficult to find dustbin but hardly find any rubbish on floor), tight security, can find taxi anywhere on the road and u can see more than 5 taxi anywhere anytime
cons: super jam road, some taxi driver try to cheat, taxi driver drive like tokyo drift, floating market seller keep pushing u to buy stuff..
Overall: highly recommended

First day: reach airport 7 pm--> suan lum --> back hotel sleep
2nd day: chatuchak --> shopping --> back hotel put stuff --> grand palace --> MBK shopping --> dinner --> back hotel
3rd day: safari world (whole day) --> siam paragon --> back hotel
4th day: floating market --> a place where they make craft --> rose garden --> pantip --> pratunam --> Baiyoke observation deck --> Nana --> back hotel
5th day: taxi to airport

Taxi driver are drive super fast averaging 100km/h even tho the roads are super jam.. they just tekan the accelerator kuat kuat then suddenly break... Taxi all colourful and painted like sports car in tokyo drift.. they even drive like tokyo dirft.. the directormust have called them to drive the car in their movie..

The only bad experience is that we got con by the taxi... from safari world to siam paragon the guy charge us 400 baht.. at first he agree to use meter then halfway he tell us 400 baht... we scared if dun agree he throw us at highway then no choice lo...

The other bad experience is the first stall in floating market the trader keep pushing her stuff to us and the boat just wait there then we need to buy 1 item... we just buy a key chain so expensive.. 250 baht for 5 elephantkeychain

suan lum we didnt know where to go then eat at a small stall.. should have look around more.. only found out the big food court witht eh performance stage when we wanna go back...too hungry we juz eat watever we c.. missed the good food at the food court

safari world is nice.. its not like out zoo negara where we just walk around and c animals..safari world they have animal show until closed.. we ggo there from morning till they close shop but didnt manage to watch all show..didnt even have the time to walk around c animals..

siam paragon is damn big and when we were there they have some kind of concert at the middle open area

floating market is alittle expensive.. 800 baht per person for the motor boat and 1500 taxi from bangkok to the floating market.. but i feel that its worth it cuz different experience.. the motor boat guy also drop us at a temple and we get to shake the fortune thing and then get a piece of paper which read your fortune like in hong kong drama

the place where they make the craft is very special.. they handicraft is really amazing and the good part is that they just allow u to take pictures with their craft freely.. evertyone just to there to take pictures cuz their items are damn expensive... the furniture made of wood and carved marvelously is really amazing...if i have a lot of money i would want to buy...

didnt realyl go rose garden.. just there for lunch and didnt watch the show... we paid the tour guy 1500 baht for transport to floating market and back but he took so many places we dun have enuff money for the entrance ticket.. so told him to go back bangkok...the guy was very nice that he dropped us straight at pantip for free and even help us bring our shopping items back to the hotel and leave it at the reception desk.. of course we would be suspicious if a stranger told us to leave the items there but somehow we were confident he was agood guy and he really was.. in the end we told him to drive us to the airport the next day and he charged us even less then normal taxi rate.. he also belanja us dessert which we feel so pai seh..

pantip is something like lowyat but bigger and less crowded..

baiyoke observation deck is a place to observe the whole bangkok.. ticket is 200 baht per person.. at first didnt feel worth it but after a while feel worth it cuz get to go to the revolving tower which was open air and get 360 view of bangkok.. even got free drinks and its not coca cola or sprite but cocktail/liquor/beer and other pub drinks.. only get to choose one.. tongue.gif

took tuktuk to phaya thai station and the guy keep offering us to c ping pong show but we rejected.. and he still keep asking so many times..lol...

at nana we though of seeing the red light district but didnt really see anything.. we only saw a pasar malam style area with alot of muslim food and shops... a few pondan standing around and guy offering thai girl show inside.. but we didnt go into the lorong... so nothing special. maybe haf to go lorong to c special stuff..
