Bro, Do u know that Khao San road is not so convenient although it is a heaven for Mat Salleh backpackers hmm.gif There is no nearby MRT or BTS to al major attractions and the only transport to everwhere is either Taxi or tuk-tuk..Better stay soemwhere near to BTS & MRT line...

This Soi 17 at Din Daeng is about 11KM away from Central BKK...and it is about 4KM away by road from Catuchak & about 600M away from the nearest Suthisan MRT station..so should be OK but abit far away from Central BKK-lah....Well atleast it is not far from the underground train.. rclxms.gif

Check this GPS Bangkok zoom out map from http://rotweilermaps.com/..on the location of Soi 17 to the MRT & also to the central bkk shopping district at MBK/Siam Paragon:

I used this map extensively in Bangkok and just luv the accuracy...to get it just visit the website & make some donation..

how many of you going? maybe we'll have a chance to meet in BKK int. airport!!

erm... another thought.. maybe this thread is a good palace to gather the Traveler to go together and travel together to have more fun!!

and for those who can read chinese! www.thailandfans.com is a very good website to schedule your trip in BKK.

The map is inside Mapking official website. but it is not free. If u'r staying for only 3 days, what u can do is to open the 3 days trial maps once u'r in BKK...no need to pay....Easier try to the get the Garmin free map of BKK from mapcenter

I believe they hv as this is universal chinese celebration. However just like M'sia, it will not be an official holiday. Thailand's Nine Emperor God festival will be even better compare to M'sia...imagine having guns, bicycle rods & etc piercing thru the mouth.... shocking.gif

Dear all, can anyone intro me some sort of apartment for 4 pax (or any equivalent budget hotel) in Bangkok & Pattaya? I am planning to go on a leisure trip for 4 days in Bangkok and 3 days in Pattaya sometime around January. Preferably in the centre of each city.

Khao San road is located about 4KM Northwest from the nearest MRT at Hua Lamphong Raiway station. U can walk if u are strong enough & I did walked 5KM from my hotel in Rama 4 to Chinatown shocking.gif rclxub.gif !...

went to bangkok from 27 sept till 30 sept
basically the whole trip was good ...
went shopping for clothes like no tomorrow ...

anyway here's a summary of the trip

27 sept :

-arrived at suvarnhabumi airport and went to take a taxi to hotel in pratunam .... cost 200 bht + 50 bht (airport surcharge) + 25 bht (toll) - always insist on meter !

-stayed at 'First House Hotel" which we booked from asiarooms.com for 800 bht per night ... room was clean but not near the Skytrain (15 mins walking)

- went straight to shop for clothes at Platinum Mall which is just a opposite the main road ... just ask the shop seller "wholesale price" .. you will be surprise it is cheaper by about 40% but need minimum of 3 pieces purchase

- walk to Central world where we window shop as the clothes there are pricey

- we test the 'tuk tuk' for a short trip back to hotel but the driver stop by a gem shop ... just take a glance i didnt buy anything coz scared they are all fakes

- at nite took a taxi to Khao San Road cost about 60 bht .. again insist on meter ! bought some clothes there ... but need to bargain real hard !

28 sept :

- again walk to Platinum Mall for shopping as we find the clothes there are cheap ...

- bought the a 'day pass' Skytrain which cost 120 bht.

- went to Siam Paragon (like klcc) and MBK (like sg wang) ... just bought slippers ... nothing to buy la coz quite costly

- nite went to patpong ... to watch 'ping pong show' which is an eye opener to see wat they can do with their body ... but kena potong leher ... so ppl who want to go there in future beware la ...

29 & 30 to be continue ........

29 sept :

- morning went to chatuchak market with a taxi ... bought a lot of things as things there are a little cheaper than platinum mall ... filled a travel bag full .. hehhe

- went to platinum mall again as we cant get enuff of shopping ... hehehe

- night just stay in the hotel to pack our bags

30 sept

- breakfast in the hotel and rush to the airport as our plane is at 10am

overall our bangkok trip was a shopping spree ... also was afraid that we will be charged with excess baggage but luckily it was not over load ... hehehhe
