Hi,
For you hardcore C2D guys - what is your mobo temp and what are your idle/load temps using stock Intel cooler (measured using coretemp, Intel TAT or Everest only) ?
I need to poll as I think my ambient temp is quite high (45C, warm room) and I'm thinking heat is a big problem.
THanks!

What softwares you all use?? I got many kinds of reading using different programs.. and i think core temp and TAT is much trustable.. [Mobo bios (Gigabyte GA- DS3 F6 bios) - 42C Speedfan 4.31 - 41C Core temp 0.93 - 50C Intel TAT - 52C When under 100% load under TAT is 65C While the Maximum Thermal Specification according to INTEL for C2D is 61.4°C, this is considered the maximum temperature for the CPU.

thanks guys!
elmoboy, coretemp and TAT measures the temperature of the diode in the CPU itself, so it's the most accurate (and hence higher readings compared to eg speedfan).

Hi,
I just got a e6400 and a Gigabyte DS3, using the stock Intel cooler.
In the BIOS under PC Health Status I set the "Fan Speed Control Method" to DISABLE as I want my CPU fan to run at full speed.
Now I undervolt the CPU from stock 1.3V to lower e.g. 1.23V as I want to reduce my CPU temp but I notice that the CPU fan speed also reduces in RPM even though it's not supposed to(eg from 3000rpm to 2500rpm). As a result the CPU temp is still high.
Apa macam? On F7 bios - is anyone else having similar issues?
Thanks!

I'm running mine at around 3Ghz, with two instances folding@home running, temps is more or less around 61C.
*measured using CoreTemp software.

Mobo is DS3, and yeah I'm on stock Intel HSF. Ambient roughly around 30C-40C, I'm using a Lian Li V1000 Plus by the way.

Ok finally weaned off Orthos for stability and just started both cores folding. Temps are much lower than Orthos @ load, much like yours c9...about 62-63C vs 68C for Orthos.
thanks again!

The best is load both cores using the function in TAT... It yields the highest temperature compared to running Prime and Super Pi... My max temp when running Pi and Prime together is only 57C. But using TAT to load both cores yields a max temp of 62C. I'm using E6300@3.15Ghz vCore = 1.225V, Cooler is arctic Freezer Pro 7

hmmm ... both core temp and TAT cannot detect my mobo and proc .. so strange one ?? using speedfan can .. at 100% loading for 5 minutes max temp around 62-63C ...
btw .. me using intel 865GSA mobo and pentium D 940 3.2ghz ...
ps .. forgot to mention ... i am using scythe ninja with fan (big ass HSF) CPU cooler previously with stock cooler temp (again using speedfan to detect) jump to over 67C ..

i tried with 1 side panel open oso (my casing is cheap ciplak type) .. temp dropped about 3C each on the CPU and mobo ..
other than dust and chances of something running into your casing and short circuit something ... what other PROs and CONs ahh ??

none i can think of beside than dust....maybe you could hear slightly lounder noise from your CPU...other than that, maybe some lizard or bugs might crawl inside while you were sleeping and make themselves a cozy, warm home...hehehe

I had that kind of temperature with my C2D 6300, with Intel Heatsink, and Asus Mobo. No matter how many times i re-seat my heatsink and how many times I put new thin layer of AS5, my temperature remains around tat. So, I changed my Intel HSF to Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro7, and it instantaneously dropped ~8C . With full speed, it drops closed to ~10C!

c2d e6600's stock HSF mounted on Pentium D 930 @ 3.6Ghz idle 53 load 77 Pentium D 930 @ 3.6Ghz with self stock HSF idle 44 load 65 HSF from PD spins at 2700 - 2900 rpm on idle and increase to almost 4000rpm at full load, where as c2d e6600 spins 1600 rpm idle and 2300 load. The fan on the left is PD and c2d is on the right. Notice the fin design and count are different.
