I heard that Bak Kut Teh was created by a man under a bridge or flyover in Klang and it was specifically sold to drug addicts so that they could gain back their sense of taste. This is because some of them could no longer taste so he sold BKT help them rehabilitate their sense of taste by the strong unique flavor of the dish.
Is this true? hmm.gif

That Jason guy from Axian Food Adventure explained the origin of bak kut teh before.

Teh refers to the surname of the shop owner of that shop nearby below the bridge in Klang. That shop was the one which popularized Bak Kut Teh. Teh has nothing to do with tea.

So, it all started from there.

He didn't mention anything about drug addicts also. rclxub.gif

Definitely Malaysia but to be more exact, Klang.
Maybe I should change the title to "History of Bak Kut Teh" because the word "origin" means the point or place where something begins...so it doesn't really relate to what I was about to discuss.Sorry notworthy.gif
