Just got the Fostex HP-A3, it's such a nice product, best ever audio product I've bought! The headphone/line out switch, volume knob control, and complete silence of preamp really really greatest I've ever heard, and I'm shocking surprise it run via my phone OTG cable straight away with enough power to drive my Shure SRH1540, with balanced sound output. Recommend you guys to buy, one thing though is this unit does not have remote control

Sardine Bluetooth speaker. Yeah name sounds weird but I guess the product makes up for it. Last I bought was around 99 bucks during first launch from online store named game hypermart.

Hi all, need some help from any audiophile guru.

I'm currently using the FIIO E10K with Beyer DT990s.

The line out goes to my speakers and headhphone out to my DT990s.

I'm planning to get the Schiit Magni/Vali and more interested in the Vali due to the fact that it is a hybrid tube amp and might provide a more warmer sound.

If I do get the Vali, I plan to connect it through the line out of my FIIO E10K via 3.5mm to RCA cable. My only concern is the ringing sound that occurs with tube amps when you turn them on for the first few minutes.

-Would the ringing sound affect my speakers as well?
-Should I just connect my speakers through the line out from my DAC as per usual instead of RCA from the Vali to avoid the ringing?

Kindly advise as I've heard it would be better to output the amp (Vali) through line out as opposed to headphone out. If it makes no difference, I might as well use the headphone out to the Vali and use the line out from my DAC to my speakers to avoid the ringing.

Schiit Vali 1 or Vali 2?

For Vali 1, subminiature tube (soldered), less rolling tube fun.

Prefer Vali 2 that with Rolling Tube variety choice of ECC88, 6922, 6DJ8, CCA, 7308...etc. More fun and more listening experience.

Greetings, this is a music lover without golden ears humbly asking for 2 cents from fellow forumer about the audio equipment.

This is my current equipment:
- My rig: Desktop PC with Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtremegamer sound card
- Favorite Music Genre: ACG/J-Pop(Goosehouse, Yui...etc), rock/metal(Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi, Queen, X Japan, Beyond, Eagles...etc), CantoPop(Eason Chan, Hacken Lee...etc), instrumental(Joe Hisaishi, Kitaro, Nobuo Uematsu...)
- Headphone/Speaker: Audio Technica ATH-M30, ATH-AD700X, Edifier R2000T 2.0 bookshelf speaker

I bought the sound card since XP era, it works fine on XP, but troublesome when I upgrade to Windows 7->8.1->10, sometimes hardware is not detected, sometimes I hear pop noise(tried Daniel K's driver, reset default setting, disable replaygain, but no cure), the PCI sound card is still healthy, it should got a lifespan longer than my lifetime, but the new OS is forcing me to upgrade.

Future Upgrade: Audio Technica ATH-AD2000X maybe, or Philips Fidelio X2 or Hifiman HE-400S or Fostex T50RP MKIII, I wouldn't know which one I will buy before auditioning
Prefer DAC choice: USB powered, switchable between speaker and headphone, comes with digital output coz I might connect some bigger dac/amp in the future

I always switch between speaker and headphone, coz I cannot wear them all day long (even it's the comfy AD700X), a DAC with output switch is adorable, prefer not to get a device with 2 output working simultaneously, coz I might forget to mute the speaker(had been complained by neighbour about me being noisy at night T^T)

I've search through lowyat and lelong for DAC that is available to buy, the Nuprime uDSD and Audinst HUD-Mini seem suit my need, but couldn't make my decision yet coz uDSD lacks 1/4 headphone jack(yes, bigger and harder I prefer devil.gif ) and HUD-Mini's volume knob is ugly(maybe I could replace it?)

I've written too long, I should make it short, so the main question is:

Nuprime uDSD or Audinst HUD-Mini, or if there is any alternative? Budget below RM1000, coz want to invest more in headphone.

Yes. Most of these specialized store will let you test headphones so that you can make a better judgement on your purchase.

Do consider the Asus Xonar Essence StX. Cost <RM600 new. Of course being a PCI sound card you lose the mobility of a portable DAC. But for me best bang for buck DAC/Headphone amp combo.

edit : Sorry I didn't read the part you prefer USB. But still do consider if you don't have any other choice.

Hi,

I was looking for a DAC and headphone amp for my ATH AD900. Was interested in Fiio E10K, then I came across Micca Origen+ and it seems to suit me, as I can use to pre-out for my Edifier R1800T3.

Does anyone know where to get the Micca Origen+ in Malaysia and it's price?

Thanks.

Yes, Essence STX should be the best affordable sound card I could get, but too bad my favorite headphones are all in low impedance, and STX got 10 ohm output impedance which is designed for high impedance cans.
