i have tested a few C2D seems to me that my e6600 a lot hotter than others
Upon checking found out that my IHS is a bit concave
maybe is time to do some lapping to get better temp
warranty void no problem coz c2d not much value in 2nd hand market now
too many thread selling brand new only rm700 to rm900 only

wat do u guys think ! drool.gif

If you feel its really concave then its worth a shot, I know I would. However, do ensure that is the main cause of your heat problems, ie. is your HSF hot to touch? How hot is your cpu at load?

if the proc is concave, the hsf wont be as hot as it should be. reason? the contact between hsf and ihs is poor. the only way to know is using coretemp or intel's TAT. there's no other software that can read core temp as accurate as those software..
using thermal probe also wont solve the mystery since the position of the thermal sensor does effect the result..

Would love to see your results lapping it rlhc. Mine's apparently convex instead concave (lucky me) but would be considering doing that too. By the way, if you know where to get sand paper of 400, 800 and 1200 grit, do let us know

I suggest you lap yours if your IHS is concave and you're getting excessive temps. I did and my load temps dropped 5-10C (depending on what clock speed) at the same voltage. Using the stock Intel cooler.

almostthere, you can get the sandpaper from any hardware shop.

indeed! If ur h/w shop doesn't have higher grit then go to another one lor. i used 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000. Didn't get a mirror finish though. Took too long. Will post pics later. You should start with 400 as it'll be much easier.
