This one is super good. I asked the MBB BM twice if there is any catch like CASA. He said no. So I am not going to ask for higher rate and will channel more funds to this FD promo.

He told me monthly interest some more !! 

Anyway tomorrow I will try to verify it. My FD is only due on Oct 1st. 

Update: I may update tomorrow quite late on this. Anyway some of you can call MBB to confirm this also.

OK, guys, the MBB 4.5% offer is NOT an FD product. 

I was in a way bluffed by the MBB branch manager when he called me yesterday after 7pm. This guy has carefully used terms on step-up, monthly interest etc without saying it is FD. So the 4.5% is actually a general investment product NOT covered under PIDM. The principal is guaranteed by Maybank only. Profit rate is not guaranteed. Except they claim that they have been paying out as indicated.

I got the info from another MBB branch.

The MBB BM called me as he tried to get me to stayput my matured FD (large amount by MY Standard, sub sub sui for some  )

So for me, I may put some amount there in this product but pull out majority of the FD from them tomorrow. Will try to get some brochure on
this if they give it out. Some of the banks do not give out the brochure on this type of products.

In my opinion, ambank's promo is the best. Better refer last 10 pages for the confirm one.

Today went to MBB branch. The branch manager was on urgent leave and the Premier Centre Service Manager met with me for a discussion in his office. The 4.5% step-up one is an Islamic product investing solely on their Islamic branch.

It is NOT capital guaranteed. But then he said Maybank do NOT guarantee even FD, it is by PIDM. Also amount under PIDM is 250k per account holder only. He showed me the brochure and allowed me one of the page only. As usual most banks do not give out full brochure claiming that it is for internal use only.  He then tried to get me on other products.

Anyway I still kind of thinking since capital and profit not guaranteed, not too comfortable with it. 

MBB has another promo for 3 months. Effective date 5/10 to 31/10. Step up with eff. rate of 3.93%.

The 5 + 5 mth FD is extended till 6/10.

I then went to withdraw the FD. The counter girl informed him and he came out to talk to me again over the counter trying to ask me to stayput or keep certain amt there. I still went ahead to withdraw the FD. 

Bankers cheque fee only RM0.53 cents. I split into 2 bankers cheque and paid RM0.53 X 2. 

I took a look again at the MBSB offer of 18 mth 4.5%. I think what @wil-i-am said is correct. Both are general investment i product. Even MBSB return is not fixed as it is Islamic product.

MBB manager admitted that it is NOT a FD product. Another MBB branch said capital is guaranteed by MBB but it is NOT capital guaranteed.

Looking at the 2, MBB one is better at 12 mth and also monthly interest. 

Also MBB one is invested on its sister Islamic Bank so safer in a way ? MBB is a much bigger bank. 

MBSB FD could b PIDM if it's proposed merger with Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd is on

same here..but will they still retain the 4.5%? that will be the question 

For me no issue as already have SA with them. Debit card wise was told by RM that no charges.
