Do you know you can only replace the indoor unit? Any brand will do as long as same capacity.

But the old ones use the old R22 gas. And I would like to change from that which means changing the pipes right.

The aircon pipes are all behind the plaster ceiling cornice.

Plus I really don't like Hitachi

R22 gas is not environment friendly, but as long as it doesn't leak, it won't harm the environment. Changing to R 410 means u need to change the piping.

Why you dont like Hitachi? It is one of the most reputable brands. Its quality surpasses the latest brands now.

in my home i had 4 hitachi Aircons and all had given me headaches and quick to breakdown. the remote is even worst the first to go. i have since replaced 1 with panasonic. now hoping to change 2 more to york & daikin and the last one Panasonic sky series

i had other family members and friends that also have had bad experience with the aircon and other hitachi products.

2) Remove and fix back plaster ceiling,
3) Change aircond piping,

These are basically obsolete models. Maybe try kaodim. You may get lucky and find someone who can repair. Most won't repair as its too expensive and parts hard to come by.

You can also try the manufacturer to see if they are willing to help
