hi all,
i have been living in my current unit for more than 10 years now. the aircon piping & wiring is Concealed from the time of the condo construction.
As for the split unit connection that has now been hidden behind the plaster conning. we rarely use the aircon much anyway but when we do its used like 8 hours straight. We have the same aircon from the time we moved in 10 years ago
My question would be
1) is it time to change the aircon? or what is the normal time frame where an aircon should be replaced? 2) can i use the same connections if i changed the aircon? since its behind the conning i am concern i will have to remove the conning as well and that means more cost.

QUOTE(tmc @ Aug 19 2015, 12:28 PM) If it is not broken, why fix ? well as true as that is, i am also concern that the older model is using an older refrigerant R22 compared to the newer R410A which i understand is more environmentally friendly. Plus i feel my older aircons are also making my electric bill high. So any thoughts will be very much appreciated.

QUOTE(supersound @ Sep 29 2015, 04:49 PM) Duration of usage matters, if short period of time, it won't do any good, except you spend more for initial cost and higher maintenance cost. Inverter only do wonders when it starts to ramp down the outdoor unit's output, as long as it is still on full load state, the consumption will be same as non inverter. Well thanks for that insight. I was reading alot on the debate about inverter vs non-inverter nad i really got a head ache. in my home aircon usage is not really much a few times in a month and mostly if there are parties or relatives staying over. which only is like 2 parties or 2 stay overs a year. So i was really torn on how to decide. The pricing is significantly different yes but i was more looking at it for the long run benefits.

QUOTE(jimmy lai @ Sep 29 2015, 04:23 PM) Hi all, just purchased samsung 1hp inverter AR09JVFSB at senheng promo rm1311 included installation.keep monitor for few week, estimate 1 days open 10hours and electric used around 5kwh/day. is it save energy if compare to others inverter models? wow that pricing is impressive since it includes installation as well. I will check out their website if they are still having promo. Did you happen to notice if they had the same pricing for MHI or Panasonic?

QUOTE(kimsim @ Oct 1 2015, 10:59 PM) Samsung should quite recent Just sharing what i heard not sure how true it is, as i went to different stores to survey like harvey norman, AEON and other local neighborhood stores as well as aircon installers they seem not to have a preference for Samsung Aircon. They claim its not very reliable and will breakdown often (with normal usage pattern). Also its not as cooling as others. Some how they recommend panasonic / daikin. Then again these are also the same people that say Mitsubishi is very expensive to maintain. Apparently the aircon remote itself can cost RM350. Personally i am looking forward to get my Mitsubishi all up & running by end of the month So not sure how true, but those that have been using could share. @leonhart88 or @kimsim what you think?

QUOTE(Astral86 @ Oct 8 2015, 10:14 PM) Hi guys, Appreciate if anybody can share where can I get people to do the concealed piping for the aircon (is it done by aircon supplier or have to engage another contractor) and the approximate reasonable cost for it. Thanks in advance. well if i am not mistaken this would need to be done by contractor and depends on how to want to conceal(casing or plaster, etc) A good place to try is a site i recently came across https://www.kaodim.com/. just list what kind of service or work you would like done and then you will be emailed some quotes to review within 36 hours or so. I found it rather useful. For now its only in klang valley, penang & johor.

Hi All,
Could anyone recommend the best way to calculate the horse power needed for a room? I am been searching online and there are like multiple different formulas and each gives different results.
Hoping those with the great knowledge here can help out. the space in question is about 25feet in length, 18 feet wide and 11 feet high.

QUOTE(TBMonline @ Oct 30 2015, 12:37 PM) http://www.panasonicairconditioner.com.my/based on the calculation,3 hp is recommended as far as aircon brands go i think panasonic is good, but i don't think i can trust the calculation on its site as i think 3 HP is too much (based on experience since the current unit is 3HP and its just too cold at times. its an old split unit design type like those thin wafer kind (not sure how to explain) with normal settings of 23 with mid fan speed)

QUOTE(ck2chan @ Mar 4 2016, 12:44 AM) This Panasonic new Elite series. Don't play play, expensive price. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tJ4uXJJDX0Agree that its not cheap but the apparent tech is new. I do like the logic with this aircon, indirect cooling which is not that easy to achieve with the current aircon design Wonder what the sifu's here think about this model?

Hi All,
Not sure if this is the right forum but thought i'd try my luck.
I live in a duplex condo. 2 compressors are placed in the yard area which is right infront of the kitchen. To go to the kitchen there is a hallway.
Right Above the kitchen & yard area there is a bedroom which does not have any air con yet. There are 2 more compressors outside this bedroom area (practically the roof)
What happens is the bedroom without the aircon gets rather hot not only from the sunshine but also when the aircons are running below it and next to it. Same happens to the hallway and the kitchen.
What is the best way to remove the hot air out of these areas to keep it comfortable?

QUOTE(PeowYong @ Mar 9 2016, 05:08 PM) Install exhaust fan to blow off the hot air from the compressor area, or maybe change the compressor setting/location. These exhaust fan - are they the type seen in hotel bathrooms? It's impossible to find another location to place the compressor. Living in a condo there are only certain places it. I have tried to ensure the aircon setting is not high but it does not help much.

Hi Sifu's Was thinking of the option of multi split type since i kinda have a space issue and heat that is generated from having 2 compressors running at the same time. Wanted to know is it truely a good option to work with? besides the fact that if there is an issue with the compressor then 2 rooms will have a problem instead of one, is there anything else to know about this type of aircon? http://www.daikin.com/products/ac/lineup/split_multi_split/http://www.fujitsu-general.com/sg/products/multi/index.html

QUOTE(cdspins @ Jul 20 2016, 11:02 AM) Guys... sorry if this is not related. I heard of a air cond cleaning service which does not need to remove the indoor unit, the worker just tape the aircond area with plastic sheet and direct to pail. Then use high pressure streams to clean the fins. Any body know the company name? Thanks. You mean like this http://m.groupon.my/deals/klang-valley-kua...ons-9/721053907

QUOTE(TXSim @ Jul 27 2016, 05:47 PM) Auto speed will off for some time Suggest to use medium speed for daily use. If low speed suggested to use with ceiling fan. This is indeed weird. Never heard such things b4. The lower the temp n higher the fan speed mean higher utilization n bill right? N wats the point of sleeping in an overly cold room? You will not have a decent rest. If using it on low speed n high temperature causes a problem then wouldn't that sound like a manufacturing defect? Hopefully some sifu's here can shed more light

Hi all,
I am looking looking to get 2 1 hp aircon. Daikin & York
I hope to use the Daikin in the room which is 11×13 feet. Since this will be used a lot it would need to b an inverter type
For the York it's for the guest room which is 9×13. It's going to b used much less so does not need to be an inverter.
Please advise which model is best and the average pricing
The current ones are 11 year old hitachi's

Accordingly to my aircon guy, it's some board issue which is not so worth to repair. That's why I am looking for advise on which model is best
