Update on my bad experience with Daikin.

I bought 2 units of Daikin R32 Inverter 1HP FTKC at same time around year 2017 for different rooms.

On June 2020, 1 of this unit show error U2 and the outdoor Inverter PCB was replaced.

Fast forward to current Aug 2020, another unit encounter the same problem. This outdoor unit is fully hidden away from sun and rain.

Currently planning the take out the board for repair at Ingress, a PCB repair company instead of paying 600 plus for board and labor.

*-:': Daikin and ✓×π^{ Inverter.
*
2 pcb fail within a few months i am guessing you could have a electrical power supply problem.

did your ELCB/RCCB trip these months due to lightning ? last few months was like more rain and lightning.
is this in a KV landed house.
Any other electrical failure experience these months .
do you have any for power surge protection ?

My house is a landed terrace house and indeed encountered power trip during heavy lightning all these while.

So far no other electrical failure. I do not have power surge protection.

So far I practiced switching off the power switch for air con without removing the plug when Aircon is not in use.
*
if the trip happens frequent and the heavy rain/lightning is like a few km away then you have a earth grounding issue.

switching off the power switch is not enough . you need to remove the plug . This is recommend if you are getting frequent trips during lightning.
most time s the lightning power surge is manageable by your house protection / the earthin system.
who know s 1 day if you get a direct lightning hit within 100m area around , then the damage will be burnt appliances.

I'm looking for a new aircon for my room, and is about 10.5x8 ft, replacing the old, non-working York unit.  I'm considering this one:

Any good ones around this price?  hmm.gif
*

how much aircon service in KL roughly? (per aircond)
*
usually from 80 rm to 150 rm , depends on what and how they service . you need to talk to the service guy .

this basic need to be done is --
:chem wash the indoor and outdoor coils.
wash the blower fan .
temp check before and after service.

if you want try DIY is great as you save some money.
its not difficult. check some youtube videos to understand more.

Saw the comments in this FB post on restricted availability of Midea parts after warranty. Not sure how true is the statement. If this is true, then it will be a worry for Midea buyers over long term

I find this hard to believe nod.gif

Any Midea AC owners face this problem . pls?

Fot those intending to purchase Panasonic airconditioners, you can ask the authorised dealers on extended warranty. It extends the warranty of both indoor and outdoor (standard 1 year warranty) + (extended warranty of up to 4 years) so total 5 years. You can choose the number of years you want to extend.

My XU24VKH cost me RM580 for 4 year extension per unit.

Bear in mind you can still extend as long as you are not 14days over the date of the purchase date.
*
so this 1 AC easily cost you about 5000 rm blink.gif

need help guys, installer and air con seller cant give me a good answer, my new haier is just not cold enough. split unit and compressor distance is about 40ft

*
bro... 40 feet is too far away . and the original gas is sure not enough. , is good for 10 feet only .

did the installer check the gas pressure and did he pump in more gas ? and need to put extra oil too .
if not this maybe 1 reason not cold.

It is brand new. Gas all ok. If too far away. Can add any gadjet to improve? Or need better insulation for the pipe?

Any sifu here can fix this issue. I dont mind to pay
*
the main question is did the installar add gas ?

my guess this haier AC cannot handle 40 feet , hence compressor performance loss.
i dont know of any gadget that can improve.
just that you need to follow the install guide lines in the manual.

he came back to check gas, no problem. may b haier lousy, recommended by installer . . .
*
yes possible . cannot handle the long distance .

another point to check . the ODU ie compressor should be place higher than the IDU if the distance is more than 10 feet.

It is always advisable to keep the outdoor unit at the height above the indoor unit. If the outdoor unit is kept at level below the indoor, some of the compressor power is used in pumping the refrigerant against the gravity, thus reducing the overall performance of the compressor. ( from google info.

Comparing 1hp ac here,

i read the spec sheets that non-inverter ac runs at 800w, so it means that it’s either 800w or 0w, as non-inverter ac is on/off to regulate the temp being set, right?

right  .  but not to 0 w as  blower  fan may still be running

Then, inverter ac is with variable wattage of 860 (200 - 1,050), the 200w means for temp like 27- 28?

yes.../no

when start  it will run at max  for max cooling  1050
when temp reach 27  it will slow down

If we on the ac at this highest possible temp, then it will just consume the lowest possible wattage? So, need to on for 8hrs for the inverter ac advantage to kick in is a myth?
*
saving will be from about 1.5 hours from start .

when temp stabilize at 27 deg .. i guess the power use will be around 500 watts for this case.

hi sifu.
I had all my air con duct concealed.
I believe it was all for non-inverter air con (subsales house).
May I know can i use those for inverter air con?
looking for sharp air con, but only inverter version has the plasmacluster.

any sifu here selling and install? need 2 unit.

i extended my master bedroom. guess now it is around 16 x 20, do i need a 1.5hp air con? or 1hp still work?

thanks.
*
how old is your con duct tubes?
yes for latest r32 gas the duct at at a higher pressure .

yes for 16x 20 use 1.5 hp at least.

so we can say that in order for inverter ac to achieve the set temp, it firstly has to use high watts (as high as like a non-inverter one), then only it maintains at lower watts

instead of using consistently  lower watts to achieve set temp at a longer time
*
yes.. high power at start for about 1.5 hours to bring down the temp fast then stabilize
to the running power depending on temp set .

if you set low temp say lower than 27 , it will use higher running power. maybe 600w / 25 deg . my rough estimate only.

i see, thanks for sharing

if that’s the case, unless the ac is on for minimum 2hrs every day, otherwise better get a non-inverter one?
*
yes... savings kick in only after 2 hours and beyond.. ....
for roughly for 8 hours use your saving can say about 40- 50% .depends on your temp settings.

this is a nice one, has all the feature of the premium branded and cheaper.

I see

for basic non-inverter ac, I was comparing daikin p series, to panasonic ones, pana ones seem to be better (in term of EER)

to achieve semilar performance with pana, daikin one has to buy its a-series, which is RM250-300 more expensive

I was thinking to get pana, but most saying pana quality has dropped a lot in recent years, due to its heavy cost cutting

what's your opinion?
*
go for pana .. i have 4 pana s ..All fine .

I will rate pana , daikin having equal reliability ratings .
talking of reliability Japanese factories have top quality standard s in parts , manufacture process etc...

hi, thanks for the tips.

i have no idea how old is that air con duct.
but currently "National" brand air con is installed there.
how old this brand can be?

meaning i can't use inverter with that old tube?
*
change name to pana was in 2008 ,

tubes can last 20 years so i guess time to change .

dont know if old tube can take the high pressure .
tube may be dirty inside may kill your new compressor .
above are your risks .
