QUOTE(melt @ Jun 12 2015, 10:33 AM) Leisure readingQUOTE They arrived back in 2011: the wheat-germ toast days. They hired Damien Comolli and decreed that they were going to do Moneyball and be successful. Except that that didn't work (almost immediately) and so, they sacked him. So when they sacked Comolli and decided to appoint Rodgers, they initially wanted to ally him with another director of football. This, they felt, was the best way to be successful: dynamic young coach, wise old head guiding him through the transfer market. But then they met Rodgers. He had his PowerPoint presentation and his envelopes, and they fell for him. He said he did not want a director of football, so they changed their minds. Phase three was the transfer committee (the 5:2 diet) when FSG decided that Rodgers could not be trusted on his own in the market and needed lots of different brains to help. That remains in place, and they seem wedded to the structure, but the problem now is that the transfer committee cannot decide what they think because FSG's priorities keep changing. Last summer, the idea was to buy young players, brightly promising ones and then watch as they developed under Rodgers' careful tuition. This was not their first "philosophy" in the transfer market: they had already been through the "British Is Best" phase, and then the "Recreate Rodgers's Swansea" phase, and then the "Undervalued Bargains From Abroad" phase. In December, though, they were so confident that signing young players with resale value was the way forward that they considered sacking their manager because he was not playing these new signings enough, or in the right position. Fast-forward six months and the criteria have changed again. Now they want Premier League-Proven players, the least imaginative transfer strategy imaginable, an approach that actually negates the need for scouts at all and would work just as well if you gave control of it to someone who's done quite well at fantasy football in the past 12 months. QUOTE(cherroy @ Jun 12 2015, 11:05 AM) Why everytime Liv sell players always need to sell at low end of offer? Agreed, Sterling should be valued at least 40m, and he's British, automatically add on 10m, he should be sold only at the price not lower than 50m!A defender, Lovren already cost 20 mil. A young hot prospect, homegrown playersm attacker cost only 30 mil? If the TC is good in negotiating, should at least negotiate more than 40+ mil. |

QUOTE(koolspyda @ Jun 12 2015, 10:21 AM) It all depends, you are asking to throw in our best defender, at least in the statistics and best tactical masterclass manager, mana boleh. Who the hell is this Bogdan guy?I think, I really do think sterling will go but it will be less than 40mil. Maybe only 30 mil + bonuses (in whichever ways the club feels best). Ambition |

As much as I think we should be greeting a lot more than what I think it will be tabled out, it's just because Raheem isn't currently on our 'high' salary and his valuation has been based on some good performance (when he did play good) and England appearances.
Just saying the leverage may not be on our side. We dont 'have-much-chips' on the table of negociations. (And Sterling wants out) To me, we can play hardball, but on stats sterling hasn't lighted or really blazed the English football unlike a certain Michael Owen, and yes how much again we got for him? (I know he only has less than a year left then if I'm not mistaken) But there are parallels here, it seems. We can demand but we needed more better quality/proven premiership player. I think other big clubs might just throw in some fringe player to wet our manager, and he might bite This post has been edited by koolspyda: Jun 12 2015, 12:38 PM |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jun 12 2015, 12:04 PM) some keeper who had issues getting into the first team of a championship team...and now his contract expired...so we as a charity club comes to help him. QUOTE(swks26 @ Jun 12 2015, 12:24 PM) Well, brightside is Bogdan is #1 keeper for Hungary lol. Plays for Bolton till injury knocked him out. Great! Rather than getting some one good to replace Mignolet, we replace Jones with another Jones. lol |

Financial wise, it is cheaper to keep Sterling, on field, at least Sterling may be better off than whoever BR intended to buy, as last season, almost all transfer can be considered flop, mediocre (apart Can) across. |

QUOTE(AnythingK @ Jun 12 2015, 02:07 PM) I don't think we have had a good back up keeper for a long while now. If only we had Pepe Reina as first keeper and then Mignolet would make a good back up keeper for Liverpool. |
