2 months ago I bought a this msi laptop. After using for some time, i found out that the temps go really high, like 80 Degrees Celsius and 85 Degrees Celsius for gpu. If I game for 2 hours i can feel the heat on the keyboard with my fingertips. Can I have some help or advice?

1) Underclock and/or undervolt.
2) Reduce in game setting (ie High to medium or to low).
3) Get a new laptop, jokes a side. for the keyboard just get a small fan and have it blow onto your keyboard to cool it down.
4) if fps is above 48 or 60 (depend on monitor refresh rate) then set vsync on.

By the way, if it is below 90 celcius it is consider ok (for me anyways). Make sure to do maintenance on the fan and thermal paste from time to time.

For ur case.. mainly becoz poor built material I think... 80/85 degree normal la... any machine wif dual heat pipe oso hit tat kind of temperature when gaming.... u feel hot should be casing or fan problem

1) i undervolted by -80mV with Intel XTU. The temps were after undervolt.
2) i kinda bought this laptop to enjoy the eye candy, i already reduced settings from high-ultra to medium-high
3) i am running out of ports ady. I have 3 normal ports and 1 supercharger port. I am using 2 ports for mouse and cooling pad and the supercharger for charging ipad while i play.
4) i should try doing that. Thanks for the suggestion.

If so then try underclock as some even most game doesnt give any rise in fps significantly with higher clock rate. Since you are using Intel XTU it should be easier for you to underclock it.

Small fan as in the portable 3 prong plug small fan not usb powered small fan. lol

Yup, lowering the multiplier. When underclock, you can further undervolt it.

When I owned the GE60, I would be using a mechanical keyboard/xbox 360 controller while gaming. Never had to deal with heat from the keyboard.

80 ~ 85 degree C for GPU is considered acceptable.

What you feel the heat on keyboard mainly because of the compact design of laptop itself. RM3k~4k laptops usually have such cooling system design, unless you go for bulky gaming laptop, where you only feel warm on keyboard for long gaming hours.

I recall every MSI gaming laptops come with cooler boost function, fan spinning is noisy but should be able to reduce surface temperature of keyboard area.

then no choice, it is laptop design limitation, unless you down clock and play in air con room

You mean the laptop that TS bought? The GE70 model only has a single fan. I'm using the GE72 that has dual fan, the heat quite manageable actually. Never go pass 70C for GPU and 80C for CPU under heavy load even without cooler boost.

ge70 is single fan? omg.. sweat.gif means your cooling is good.. cz msi improve the cooling as the gaming series intend to suffer frm heat issue

Generally, 85 degress still under acceptable condition.. like u ride motorbike, surely can feel the hot of exhausts after riding for 2 hours or even long.. and also depend on the environment u are in.

After sending in the laptop for service and replacing the fan and heatsink, the problem still persists. I read in the msi forums that I could repaste my cpu and gpu. Would it be a good idea? I have a tube of coolermaster extreme fusion X1.

worth a try
are temps above 90c?
if its in 80-90 range it is normal to have to have those temps while gaming

It is not heat sink nor fan problem but thermal management problem.

The best is to under clock. Thermal paste might reduce 3 - 4 celcius

repasting with correct amount and technique would improve temps 2-5c
thing is manufacturers usually put too much thermal paste and this causes the paste to be an insulator instead of filling the microscopic gaps between the chip and the hearsink
