Agreed. Failure rate is also very high because most of the candidates never prepared well or are over-confident.

Lol, I'm not Obama.

Does your definition of Private Equity means you were involved in either of the following:
1) Leveraged Buyouts
2) Venture Capital
3) Angel Investing
4) Distressed Investing
5) Growth Financing?

I believe you should finish your CIMA exams first, then whether you want to continue with the CFA program, it's up to you.

Oops, I am sorry sir.
I am quite new in this industry.
i am involved in growth investing to acquire the company that want to expand and we will sell the company through IPO. PE companies usually invest in convertible bonds then convert to shares when IPO. Sometimes, we use our fund and sometimes use the leveraged buy out.
I believe in this industry networking is the most important, we got the deal from consultants or bankers.

Thanks for your input. I wonder CIMA will be irrelevant with my current job.

In that case, CIMA is not so relevant to your job. Best track for you is to get a few years of working experience, build your network, then take a top 10 b-school MBA (e.g. Insead). You can take the CFA program if you wish to but not so relevant as well to PE.

What will be relevant for CFA? i think it should be equity research. Because we will sell our shares in IPO. In property market, we are flippers, investment bankers are property agents and the companies are houses. However, top 10 MBA degrees are not cheap. I wonder i can save the money to start up my biz or invest in stock market. From the beginning i never consider MBA eventhough my boss suggested me to take it one day.

You have to find your own targets? Don't bankers spam deals to PE firms for investing, M&A, raising funds, etc deals?
