QUOTE(User99 @ Dec 18 2012, 12:22 PM) ACT - Association of Corporate Treasurers?Added on December 18, 2012, 11:46 pm QUOTE(aaron1kee @ Dec 16 2012, 09:10 PM) I do agree that Sunway hours are significantly lower than norm (maybe it's due to the low take up rate?). And yes we do have internal assessment (2 progress test, 1 mock). Too bad that I'm not around (Then again, it all boils down to your commitment & dedication. Cheers. QUOTE(fino_abama @ Dec 18 2012, 11:45 PM) ACT - Association of Corporate Treasurers? Yes, how does this qualification differ from CFA?After doing some research, I found that this ACT qualification offers a fast route for qualified accountants so I'm quite interested in it. And lets say I do have an interest in joining an IB in the future, which of these qualifications is more relevant? This post has been edited by User99: Dec 19 2012, 12:49 AM |

Which part of IB do you want to join? You do know that there are many functions within IB. This post has been edited by fino_abama: Dec 19 2012, 11:17 AM |

QUOTE(User99 @ Dec 19 2012, 07:11 PM) Then AMCT is out. Qualifications to consider are:1) Top ranking MBA (e.g. Wharton, INSEAD) 2) CFA 3) Corporate Finance qualification (from ICAEW. This qualification is new but the prospect looks good) 4) ACCA (complete Advanced Financial Management paper) What's your background like? |

QUOTE(fino_abama @ Dec 19 2012, 07:45 PM) Then AMCT is out. Qualifications to consider are: I'm actually an ACCA finalist. I just attempted the P4 Advanced Financial Management paper earlier this month. So now waiting for my results, I am considering my options on whether to further study or to start working. I got zero working experience.1) Top ranking MBA (e.g. Wharton, INSEAD) 2) CFA 3) Corporate Finance qualification (from ICAEW. But can I ask, is it possible to get a job in an IB with what I have now? And will they require me to further my studies? Assuming I pass my exams. Cause I'm not sure whether I can handle working and studying at the same time. If possible I'd like to finish my studies, then start work. Sorry for getting out of topic. Should I PM you instead? If you are going to further your studies, what are the options that you are considering? I can't say that it's totally impossible for you to get a job in IB (try and apply). At the same time, try applying to the Corporate Finance Advisory arms in Big4.Anyway thanks for you replies. But can I ask, is it possible to get a job in an IB with what I have now? Also, I'm not too keen on the ICAEW qualification as I think its still too new. Don't wanna risk taking it. Besides, I don't think any tuition provider is conducting classes for this qualification here. So I think CFA seems to be the obvious choice here and I think now, its a matter of when do I study it then. Yeah, I'm applying for the Big 4 already but not the IBs yet, will apply soon. Hi all!
I'm currently pursuing my degree ( finance ) in first year, any helpful course or program can be taken at this stage? Is there any part time job for a student (such as unit trust agent) that helps to gain experience and useful when he's in working place and doing a job which related to finance. Any replies will be highly appreciated! Thanks. =) |

QUOTE(fino_abama @ Dec 21 2012, 10:05 AM) More to financial planner But, as I know that financial planner ( like CFP ) usually tends to manage and give advance based on the financial condition, objectives and direction on customer basis. What about the job which purposely to conduct financial planning, risk allocations, cash flows and allocation for the corporate? Something like CFO? I'm more passionate on that. Thanks for you reply. =) Added on December 21, 2012, 8:03 pm QUOTE(kinwing @ Dec 21 2012, 10:21 AM) Past your degree 1st, or at least make it through your last year in your degree then only think about getting course or program. Hi there. Thanks for your reply.I'm looking forward to explore and learn more about financial management, risks allocation and analysis for investment. Or even better if I could gain some experience. There's plenty of time even after I have allocate the sufficient time to my academic and studies & also for entertainment , and I'm able to maintain my CGPA at 3.5 or above ( in UTAR-Kampar ). I hope not too use most of my time merely on academic since it's not the only important factor which may affects my career in the future later. I hope to gain more knowledge and experience so I could gain the competitive advantage and able to survive in such a competitive working environment later on. If you want to be a star, be active in events (beneficial ones of course), join those business challenge competitions and keep your CGPA near to 4.0 (3.5 and above is weak). In the future (after a few years of managerial experience), you may want to take up an MBA from a top business school (using FT as a benchmark). |

Whatre your thoughts and opinions on this program ? it seem easy and simple enough to do and should open up my mind to the world of finance in the bigger prospective. Should i go for this program since i have time to kill before my intake starts ? Advice pls tq CFA sifus ! |

For knowledge-wise, yes (but I'll rather buy a book by Ross/Brealey&Myers/Brigham to read). Not valuable in the working world.Whatre your thoughts and opinions on this program ? it seem easy and simple enough to do and should open up my mind to the world of finance in the bigger prospective. Recent trends in investment banking - automation and significant reduction in head count by all players. Watch out, since the curve for this profession was a steep rise, usually followed by steep correction. Jobs that are too costly tend to be targetted for cost reduction and stream lining.
The world of finance is getting ready for revolutionary change. Any views on this emerging trend? |
