Picking up photography as a new hobby.

I'm interested in shooting photos, and blow them up on canvas.

What should I get? Budget around 20k??

What kind of photography? Portrait? Landscape? Architecture? Etc?

portrait n pet, probably abit of landscape.

20k for pet.....maybe a little too much. Of course nobody stopping you to buy a leica with noctilux f/0.95 Len.

Well the reason I state such budget, for assume there would probably have such needs to accomodate my desire to print them on large surface??

Canon 5ds 50mp, nikon d810 36mp or perhaps leap of faith samsung nx1 28mp with burst speed for dog/cat movement. Of course there are other alternatived depending on how big is your canvas.

Doesnt matter. The higher mp count actually have benefit of cropping as well. But usually around 16-20mp with minimal crop is enough. Most high end camera can do the job nicely. The rest depends on your artistic style either you are bokeh whore, action freeze, macro, low light or landscape photographer as each has its own camera preference. Btw pet and landscape have their own lens preference so study on that to purchase better lens than kit lens.

I opt for Sony A7II (RM4800) + SEL28F20 (28mm) (RM1600) + SEL55F18Z (55mm) (RM2900) as starter kit to cover Portrait (Pet also) + standard landscape.

Total RM9300.

If you have budget and want wider landscape, you can get SEL1635Z (16-35mm) (RM4300).
OR
If you don't mind manual focus and huge lens, Samyang 14mm f2.8 (RM1300) is value for money.
OR
If you want small, lightweight ultra wide angle lens but dont mind manual focus, try Voigtland 15mm F4.5 vIII (RM2800).

FYI, body only. If you buy at shop with kit lens (RM2000+), it will/may come with extra battery, charger, tripod and/or bag.

i was replying to jason about below 2K. And yes lazada has that bundle too around 2K + but then if you're really know what you're buying you dont really take these freebies (kitlens, extra battery, charger, tripod, bag) coz they are crap. Crap lens, non original battery and charger, crap shaky cheapo tripod and cheap bag that will ended up collecting dust that not even sony made.

Rm1.9k +lens is more than rm2k....dont cha think? I get what you mean but a guy asking for less than 2k usually just want to start up as hobby or on budget so freebies maybe a good starting kit equipment before buying thousand ringgit gears.

TS budget is big. He can buy all that expensive lens with that budget, i just want to suggest world fastest autofocus camera to him since he is shooting moving objects (human and animal)
