check your lens minimum focus distance vs your object distance that you trying to focus.
probably the object you focus below the minimum of your lens. |

Assuming your on the xc 16-50 kit lens. The minimum focusing distance is 15cm when on widest and 35cm when zoomed in. Considered very good alreadyI'm a complete newbie. Please help! |

This photo is an example, somehow I can't post multiple photos for some reason. But anyway even when I moved my camera to the edge of the table I still couldn't focus the sanitizer.

Considered very good already It could focus the background sometimes and couldn't focus on the object in front Edit: this is at 15cm and sometimes even more. QUOTE(spazzed @ May 22 2015, 03:01 PM) It could focus the background sometimes and couldn't focus on the object in front Every lens has different minimum focal distance. If the object is too close, you can't really focus it. The only way is to place the object slightly far away.Edit: this is at 15cm and sometimes even more. |

try focus on the side of the bottle instead.
the cap will be the best with the color different from the background. |

Try this. Set your camera to manual focus. Set it to the closest focus. Without adjusting the focus, move your camera from closest to farthest from the subject. When it is sharp, thats the min focus distance.
