Hey guys. My camera seems to be unable to take closeup shots. I mean it can but it won't focus a [!AF] pops up beside the focusing bracket thing.

I'm a complete newbie. Please help!

check your lens minimum focus distance vs your object distance that you trying to focus.
probably the object you focus below the minimum of your lens.

Assuming your on the xc 16-50 kit lens. The minimum focusing distance is 15cm when on widest and 35cm when zoomed in. Considered very good already

This photo is an example, somehow I can't post multiple photos for some reason. But anyway even when I moved my camera to the edge of the table I still couldn't focus the sanitizer.

It could focus the background sometimes and couldn't focus on the object in front sad.gif

Edit: this is at 15cm and sometimes even more.

Every lens has different minimum focal distance. If the object is too close, you can't really focus it. The only way is to place the object slightly far away.

Set the AF box to smallest and half press focus on the more contrasty bit of ur nearby image.

try focus on the side of the bottle instead.
the cap will be the best with the color different from the background.

Try this. Set your camera to manual focus. Set it to the closest focus. Without adjusting the focus, move your camera from closest to farthest from the subject. When it is sharp, thats the min focus distance.
