for me, i'll use Ext3...
to use NTFS, you need to install a software to enable it to read the partitions..don't remember the software name... |

Ext2/3 or VFS or UFS? ... or any other? Generally, it depends on your system bottleneck, ie: CPU bound(cpu too slow) or I/O bound(slow harddisk). Also, type of file (few large files, or lot of small files.) For me, i'll choose JFS or XFS, depend on those criteria. Some good review: http://linuxgazette.net/122/TWDT.html#piszcz |

QUOTE(Christopher_LKL @ Nov 6 2006, 10:03 PM) err .... hi, still how to get BT/FTP/Direct download working with ClarkConnect or any other ... any idea how? thanks! Maybe you have found your solutions, but i'll recommend MLDonkey (link) in the gateway/server, and install Sancho (link) for every client to control the mldonkey. It have the option of direct download (i nvr use this), emule (test for downloading some files, the speed is ok), and bittorrent (no protocol encrypt or dht, but can still reach max speed provided that the seed is plenty, and if u are connected with malaysians it gets better >_> *streamyxcaps*)QUOTE(Christopher_LKL @ Nov 17 2006, 10:13 AM) Hi Guys, problem, wat type of file systems u guys actually using? NTFS seems no good to LINUX ... so u guys using ? Ext2/3 or VFS or UFS? ... or any other? Define 'no good'? Are you mounting/adding a new drive in ur CC box? Currently my setup consists of 2 harddisk. 1x40gb for CC install and temporary downloads/storage, 1x250gb for permanent storage. The 250gb drive is from one of main PC running windows, and it use NTFS. I can't format that drive because a lots of things in there, so i just keep it as NTFS. To mount it under clarkconnect, i use Fuse (link) coupled with NTFS-3g driver (link) then share the drive via samba for network access and file management. Both fuse and ntfs-3g need to be compiled and install however.. and I don't remember the steps (can check out here), but i can guarantee that it works flawlessly so far with my setup. However, I don't know how to defrag/scandisk the ntfs drive with this kind of setup except for removing it and plug in back to any winxp machine |

I'll quote the website as below: The Vyatta Open Flexible Router (OFR) is a complete open-source routing & firewalling solution that is available as familiar, ready-to-deploy software and appliance products. The OFR delivers: * Savings of 50% or more over similar proprietary products * A flexible, extensible system that can be customized to meet a variety of different needs * A "boot-and-go" live CD that makes installation and operation a breeze * A 2 Gbps routing solution ideal for mid-range LAN routing and branch office applications * An easy-to-manage solution with both GUI and CLI interfaces This post has been edited by coolblade: Nov 21 2006, 01:22 AM |

QUOTE(syyang85 @ Nov 21 2006, 12:03 PM) Yeah, that is a thing of past NTFS-3g should be "safe enough" for most operation. Read, write, delete.. most of it works without any problem. I've been using it on laptop for sometimes already, though i don't recommend it for servers... The only missing feature is defrag or repair NTFS. |

hehe, yeah. i'm using it in my clarkconnect. so far no problems and it works great. but like mokona_modoki said, it doesn't have defrag/chkdsk function.
anyway this is just a temporary solution until i got a new HDD (planning to add another 250/400gb to the cc box), transfer all the files to the new hdd and then format it with linux fs. |

And there's someone out thr doing it. Though i didnt tried it personally. They used Vmware. Here's a tutorial on it with Pfsense http://pfsense.bol2riz.com//tutorials/vmwa...all/vmware.html This post has been edited by syyang85: Nov 22 2006, 01:37 AM |

It uses SSH (not telnet?), go to your IPCop webadmin, and start the SSH service (System -> SSH, enable SSH, and then save). Then fire up your putty, enter your ipcop ip address (or hostname) and use port 222.
By default the Ipcop SSH service is off, and its port is 222. Hope this helps This post has been edited by angeldothack: Nov 22 2006, 04:14 PM |
