You plan to train properly first before starting to calibrate your MMR? MMR actually begin calibrating from your first ever game in DotA (the normal match making one). So that 10 games to calibrate isn't really gonna be the big deciding factor.

In regards to which hero, try to pick those with high power or potential early or mid game like Spirit Breaker, Huskar, Clinkz etc instead of those hard carries that need to farm a lot.

really? speaking of which, i played hundreds of game(normal match) but have not tried the ranked match yet, thus my mmr is still tbd.

I have always thought that, those 10 matches is the deciding factor for my mmr, well... seems it is not.

no wonder during normal match, my opponents are very strong with 4k - 5k mmr. (i check their mmr through profile )

sb = failed
huskar = failed
clinkz = seems promising

Hundreds of normal games already, so there's a rough MMR score for you determined already. Or else how would the system match make you in normal games?

Just do the 10 matches, don't wait until you feel pro to attempt those calibration match. I was in your shoe.

Like mentioned, find a non carry hero that requires minimal farm. Then try to master it, how I usually start is by checking dotabuff for the top 10 players for that particular hero. Then analyze their skill builds & itemization. Lastly download their recent games on that hero & watch how they played it. Might wanna even watch as "Player's Perspective" even learn how he control the hero.

Like if you wanna learn Clinkz, check who are the top 10 Clinkz players & then study their recent matches (don't bother checking matches that are months old, it's usually outdated). Learn how to hunt, gank & kill with that hero effectively. Then understand the hero's strength & weakness, learn the various skill/item builds or styles to play that hero so that you can adapt accordingly in game. Like your SB failed cause you always go with the typical Blade Mail, Mask of Madness, Assault Cuirass build? Try buying Dagon instead on SB & see, it works like a charm against non-tanky heroes.

Playing Clinkz is all about timing. He's only good after he used his ulti. For 35 seconds, he gains HP & Damage from the Creep that he consumed with his ulti. Strongly recommend you to consume only those high level Neutral Creeps i.e. the big version of Centaur, Satyr, Troll, Red Hellbear & Wildwing. That will maximize your HP & Damage gain. If possible, don't consume those lane creeps, a bit insignificant boost.

Minus off the walking time to your victims, you actually got like only 15 seconds or lesser to finish off your victims become you lose your HP & Damage boost. So don't play it like Riki, keep on tailing enemies while invi until you got the perfect chance to kill.

How do you guys counter or at least def against Jugger's Bladefury + a lockdown disabler combo?

Can't even go near the creep wave to aggro the creep or LH, the moment got within the capture range, straight bam! Stun + BF-ed to death.

Will Raindrop or Faerie Fire help? Or other possible solutions?
*
not much counter except getting boots asap or playing void/timber/slardar, offlane's priority is getting levels not farms.. just avoid deaths.

try to block the first wave of creeps and let the ranged creep move to front, once it's in front, block the remaining melee ones.

carry a tp always, go to jungle, once opponent's safe lane creeps are approaching tower, tp back to your lane to get experience and farms of coz since it's in tower range

Don't think Slardar could make it (if you're pointing to his Sprint). At low level the Sprint MS boost ain't much while he still takes a hefty 20% additional damage. By the time I got boots or got a decent MS boost from Sprint, the Jugger would have made Phase Boots already.

So seems like only the natural escape artists e.g. AM, Void or Timber can handle this nasty combo. Got steam rolled really really bad thanks to this combo.

I tried Faerie Fire & Raindrop, works to a certain degree only. Still need to hug tower & get zoned out a lot, basically still lose the lane.

the combo is not really nasty actually

it's easily handled, watch more 4k and above average live games with slardars against juggs, it's very similar to playing timber.

just get iron talon and boots asap and you'll be safe, once you get levels you can even farm opponent's supports.

ward for vision, not blocking any camps. read the supports movement. if their support stacks and pull small camp, you pull the big camp. if they pull large camp, try to aggro those creeps to you and bring them to tower range to farm.

no need for raindrop. it doesn't work against jugg

It's the stun + bladefury combo that I'm concerned. The raindrop is to block stun damage so that i can survive bladefury.

Well, just getting steamrolled badly recently.....so just wondering what's the usual counter to some combos that really mopped us clean.

it depends on your style, do you like babysitting? or you prefer roaming around creating space, forcing TPs from oppo support so your cores can farm? i'm the latter one.

i prefer melee supports like Pudge, Kunkka, Riki, Elder Titan, Earth shaker, Earth Spirit, and Nyx.. as for ranged supports, rubick, oracle and kotl.

if you can play your role well, it's really effective.

make sure to always carry a smoke as pos 4 player from start.
