Would also want to correct this misconception. You do NOT need to become PR to service your 3-yr bond after graduation. The bond is just that you have to work in Singapore for 3 yrs. You can still be under Employment Pass, if you do not want to apply for PR.

In case someone tries to debate this, I have completed my 3-yr bond, and am still on EP after 6 yrs, since I do NOT have any intention of applying for PR.

PR need to apply meh ?

Before you grad from Uni they will send you a letter leh....

*
yes have alot because this is the job shun by Singaporean. I think you have to come to Singapore and buy the Saturday Strait Times. Saturday paper is super thick and have alot of job advertisement.
Btw, you are guy or girl ? In my opinion girl is easier to get job in service sector.
Maybe I wrong also. smile.gif

I think the company will pay for you.
The only thing I know that the company will deduct from the salary is the CPF.
I am not very sure also because I become PR after grad.

If can find the job directly to the company you want to work for.
If gone through agent, the agent will deduct some money from your salary.

Obviously can survive with sg3K. By reducing your living standards, you can easily do that. I just want to know, lets just say he wants to have the same living standard as Malaysia, say a car and a 1100 sf condo (since both of these make up the highest expenses) is it possible to achieve with Sg3K?
*
Eh... I am earning $3.8k per month.
I also don't dare to buy car. Everyday still taking mrt.
I really don't understand how come so many people can afford driving nowadays in Singapore.
Maybe my salary is too low to buy a car. sad.gif
I wonder how much they pay for the car installment, fuel and etc. per month.

it oso offer ATM, Deposit, and typing ur book balance mechine.
*
I think you try to say POSB.
Most of the company in Singapore bank in the salary to POSB account.
If can open another bank, go for OCBC bank.
Most of the time, POSB have very long queue.
Meanwhile OCBC ATM seldom have very long queue and most of the mrt station also have it.

I thought most of the people who study in Aus also want to take the Aus PR.
Last time some of my friends don't want come back until get their PR approve first.
I heard they said, it is easier to get PR when still inside the Aus country.

the problem is if someone got a job der. the house owner will take this opportunity to raise up the rented room fees.

My bro is facing this problem currently. He haf to find a new place in September soon.

Added on August 15, 2007, 9:49 pm

if u dun mind goolie. i can shared wif u bout my bro which was started as a programmer at SG as well.  My bro started at around SGD1600 roughly 4 years ago. While in Malaysia, he got more than 2 years working experience. Only the last year which was related to Computer but as a Tutor only.

Normally, Singaporean employer won't care bout ur Malaysia University Degree.  If Oversea cert holder then u got extra requirement. As u only got 1 year of working experience, i afraid u will be offer around SGD1600 to SGD2000. Well, dun get discourage. U will get better pay after u working for a year or more in any related field in SG. Then, u will be automatically pump up ur value.

Singaporean taking us(Malaysian) as foreign labour. Our salary is very hard to competitive wif local Singaporean. This is why we got chances to get employed. Employer believe we will be more hardworking than Singaporean. Now IT field in SG is getting even challenging, since Indonesian, Indian, & China ppl are struggling in Singapore too.

Anyway, try to get more certificate to upgrade ur status while u happen to work in SG. It is very important in Singaporean society. Especially IT field. Else, u dun hope u can get promote much easier. They want u to haf a shining background instead of just bloody skill.

I got a friend waiting for 5 years cuz his supervisor said he will promoting him. Now oredi 5th year nothing happend even my friend is so hardworking. Then another friend get promoted immediately cuz he studied for a certificate. This is very truth. Singaporean very care bout their employee's images & background.

Well, der would be different & lucky person.  I am just sharing what happend to ppl surrounding me.
*
Agree with you.
It also depends on which field you are in. I have one friend who is UTM first class honours graduate and with 3 years experience but received lower pay than the fresh grad of the Singapore local Uni.
Singaporean employer won't care much about the Malaysia University Degree. It is understood because Malaysia Uni degree are not well recognize in the world. Singapore local uni is in top 100 meanwhile Malaysia Top University is 180++.

hmm... If you need a room to step foot first i can give u my frz no.

You rent his room while u search for your room near ur working location.

want?
*
Cannot anyhow rent , if your friend live in HDB flat.
You will sabo the owner.
Please consult the HDB officer and the owner first.
HDB have guidelines how to rent out the room.
If your friend is the owner and ignore the guidelines, the consequence is very big unless no busybody neighbor go to report to HDB.

What is your qualification ?
Most of the work here need some paper.
A lot of job in Singapore, no worry for the job part. It is depend on what you want.
Career Progress in specialize field ? Just want to earn a lot money in shortest time ? Want to work toward professional body such as CPA or Professional Engineer ?

I'll be travelling down to SG to look for a room next week and in November.

PM me your budget, I can help you look out for some rooms.

I think if you want SGD 200-300 at most it's utility room. You know when they have 2+1 apartments; your room will be the +1...
*
I don't think SGD $200-300 can get a room nowadays.
Probably is twin sharing basis.
Property in Singapore is very hot now. The price is increasing....

with SGD200~300, you can only get a twin-sharing room.

commonly, it cost SGD350~500 for a single room.

Fully agree with you. smile.gif

I don't think you can rent it for SGD300 in Buona Vista area. If you don't believe me can try to look around at the Strait Times Classified and call up any agent to ask for the price.
Good Luck.

My best friend have work in singapore now.. life like hell, rental, food, transport all expensive. you work there salary around $2300 sing dollar almost same you work in malaysia Nasi ayam ($3.2 - Rm4). But my friend now already move to jb, but still need to wake up around 6am to starting go sing work. If you didnt found the really good work. recomment you stay malaysia la..
*
Your friend is fresh grad is it ? If your friend have experience, the pay is quite low.
I don't think life in Sg is so tough loh. The life in SG and Malaysia is totally different. Your mind set will change when you have a stable high pay job, hdb flat and car.
If your friend move to JB stay and still work in SG, then I fully agree that your friend is having a very tough working life.
The Custom queue will kill the impatient person. doh.gif

He is saying the nasi ayam is very expensive lah when convert to RM.
When someone work in SG and earn SGD, we will not feel it.
In fact, those earn SGD have more purchasing power than RM.
Chinese New Year coming soon, just exchange SGD 4k then we got double up RM to spend in Malaysia.
Every year also doing the same thing.
