QUOTE(MUM @ Feb 22 2021, 05:56 PM) so, the award is given based solely on the BEST ROI performance for the period in evaluation? not solely but includes others,... as per this An introduction to the Lipper Leaders Rating System https://lipperalpha.refinitiv.com/wp-conten...aders-Intro.pdfthus a fund with the BEST ROI can also be omitted from being the winners or a not so best fund (in the eyes of seasoned investors) can be a winner too,....

QUOTE(squarepilot @ Apr 17 2021, 09:45 AM) Any cat that can catch rats is a good rat If you spend rm5 on charges but get back rm50 in return is also considered as good investment Is just that if you want to buy Conservative fund or reits fund than better avoid fund that charges high management fee yes,...that is usually the case in the beginning... but after awhile,... one may question oneself.....can paying RM1.5 instead of RM5 also can get back RM50 returns a cat that catches rat is a good cat,...but how efficient it that cat when compared to others or how much food does that cat eats compared to others?

QUOTE(squarepilot @ Apr 17 2021, 09:55 AM) The benchmark is beating the inflation rate and maintaining future spending and purchasing power If you're thinking of maximising your returns of investment, the only way is to invest yourself in equities market there are factor of calculating more effectiveness even for a the benchmark of just beating the inflation rate and maintaining future spending and purchasing power...how much does it cost to beat that benchmark? the benchmark of catching rats....there are method of judging its effectiveness too... thus even those that are "thinking of maximising your returns of investment, the only way is to invest yourself in equities market"...will after something realising that the cost of transaction matters too when thinking of maximising returns This post has been edited by yklooi: Apr 17 2021, 10:05 AM

QUOTE(squarepilot @ Apr 17 2021, 11:45 AM) Yes. We are greedy. We want to max our return This is solely my perspective But at the same time we need to diversify our risk. So we allow some money to parked in these fund, especially the moment we start having kids and plan for their education that's where fixed income and managed portfolio kicks in. Most of the fund does promise in the brochure of protecting your savings for your next generations etc etc If you want to get rich, unit trust is not the way to go bro when wanting to maximising returns...then it is not about "Any cat that can catch rats is a good cat" QUOTE(squarepilot @ Apr 17 2021, 09:45 AM) Any cat that can catch rats is a good cat If you spend rm5 on charges but get back rm50 in return is also considered as good investment Is just that if you want to buy Conservative fund or reits fund than better avoid fund that charges high management fee This post has been edited by yklooi: Apr 17 2021, 11:51 AM

QUOTE(squarepilot @ Apr 17 2021, 11:56 AM) Added my comments on my previous post Fund is not about maximising returns It's a tools for risk mitigation for the savvy investor And a lazy man method for those who don't care about growing their money outside of their working field. will that be contradicting to below? QUOTE(lowyat101 @ Jul 12 2021, 12:05 PM) new to this PM and from the latest chats, seems that for long term i can consider the Global Select right? yes, if the decision is based on past performance results, and hopefully those performance can continue. just a note though, if DCA there will be at about 5~5.5% sales charge for your every buy

thanks for the quick reply. about the sales charge, is it only 1 time during buying? or it's both for buying and selling? should be applicable to buying only.... unless there are some funds also having redemption fees too...need to check the fund factsheet, prospectus or highlight sheet for details... most probably PM funds don't hv redemption fees

QUOTE(RigerZ @ Nov 5 2021, 08:46 PM) Does anybody know why PMO applies a sales charge of 3.75% when other platforms (ahem FSM) only charge 1.5-1.8%? just pure speculation,.... most probably there is no need to reduce lower since there is no indication of need yet as there are still strong demand for their products. just like at times in FSM thread, there are postings asking why eunittrust can gives 0% SC while FSM does not.
