but i dont set burst mode

my only complaint (and it's a big one) is that the camera app will randomly hang . That's the biggest flaw with my phone, hopefully they can fix this.

Hmm, this is interesting.... are you able to record a video (maybe using another phone) of you taking 15 shots with the M5? It will be interesting for comparison.

Fortunately, my camera never once hang on me!

Talk about hang, now I experienced twice already the WiFi cannot connect to my access point at work, and then when I go to the WiFi settings, even if it is ON, there's no access points in the list, which is impossible.

I have to restart the phone, then everything is working well back. :|

QUOTE(otroman @ Sep 28 2015, 03:34 PM)
So yesterday I was getting fed up with the crap sound so I started trying out all the options in the Music app. I got into the Headphone section (Audio Setting -> Headphones) where they have specific Sony headphones optimization like for the MH1c, MH750, etc. (I usually leave it on 'General' since they don't have a setting for any headphones other than Sony) and I tried turning on all of them out of frustration.

The sweet spot is: MH410. Once I got that turned on everything sounded 200% better. Back to the sound I got from the SP (I think). Now when I hook it up with the Headphones its beautiful music again.

I wonder if the MH410 option is for like the basic sound out.
Hmm, I am using Ultimate Ears, so I set mine to General as well, haven't tried others.

I think my M5 comes with the headphone called MH410c, will try out the different profiles.

Thanks!

Hmm, everyone should check if your M5 firmware is 1.23 or 1.33, mine was originally 1.23, checking it on my phone, shows that it is already up to date. But I use the PC Companion and it updated my phone to 1.33.

The Phase Detect focus works consistently now, previously, there's some cases that it just won't focus, and I need to quit the camera app, to get it focus again. And previously I also complained that the Manual/Sports mode doesn't seems use PDAF, it does now. Quite happy with the update.

Hi guys, i want to ask does M5 has this  auto screen on/off feature?
when you flip the cover open and the phone auto unlock
and goes to home screen for you and you no need to swipe to unlock it.
(i put swipe unlock though not password and pattern)

This is because somehow when i flip open and feel that the battery drain faster eventhough
i set stamina mode on with extended usage. Feel like the phone is never on standby/sleep mode  sweat.gif

edit, poke raymondtong94 do you have encounter this problem  hmm.gif

i google and and found this but not sure about it  hmm.gif
https://www.quora.com/How-does-a-smart-flip...o-screen-on-off
*
I did saw smart cover listed as one of the features in a flip case. But why would this be a problem? You only flip open the cover when you want to use the phone right? It shouldn't contribute to anymore battey drain because you would have unlocked it anyway?

As for battery I am currently doing some testing. It seems that with enough features turned off. The phone might really go 2 days. I managed to get more than 50% before I go to bed. With around 1.5 hours screen on time. Will report further here once I have finished my testing.

I see, because i thought the phone never goes into sleep/standby mode which drain the battery faster.
Yesterday 10pm i went to sleep and the battery still have 42%.
i set stamina mode with extended usage on and today wake
up the battery left 2%  hmm.gif
*
It shouldn't. It is just a magnet that should only wake up your phone when it is opened or closed. Loosing 40% at night is a bit bad. Few things that you can try to get better battery:
Turn off Google now
Turn off location history
Uninstall Google fit
Uninstall Facebook/messenger and use the web version
Disable account auto sync.

battery is 30% now as i had browse the internet / play games before.
now i try again tomorrow see how much % left this time with flip cover open.
this is because when i close the flip cover i suspect the phone never goes
to standby/sleep mode  sweat.gif

Edit: So this time my battery left 28%  sweat.gif today i going
to test again to see whether if i let the flip cover close really drain the battery and
sometime the phone not going into standby mode / sleep mode compare
to flip cover open  sweat.gif

Or just take out the cover for one night? tongue.gif

I do have one issue from time to time, which is that my phone's sometimes doesn't connect to my office's WiFi. This is until I unlock the phone, then it connects straight away.

Anyone experienced this?

I know the phone is not connected because I have a tasker profile that turns my phone to silent mode when I am at work (I have the lg g watch to notify me), and sometimes when I come in, the phone will still have notification sound. Then I unlock the phone, saw that the wifi is not up, then wait like 1-2 seconds, then the wifi will go connected.

Yeah it is always on, and when this happens, I go into WiFi and the list is blank, strange eh? I think at the current age, the list should never be blank.

Hi Guys,
My Z3 Dual Sim that I bought while on assignment overseas has decided to give me problems. As I've gotten used to Sony's UI along with the 'waterproofness', I am considering the M5 as a replacement.

Reading GSMArena, it seems there are a number of users with a few problems and this is why I'm asking here to the current Malaysian M5 users: Are you'll facing any screen / random reboots / hanging, etc problems?

Thanks
*
Not on mine.

I am facing sometimes WiFi list is blank and need to reboot. Camera just won't focus, need to exit and run camera app again.

Looks like there's alot problems for my newly bought xperia m5.
It starts to have auto shut down, need to plug in charger then only can turn it on back.
Sometimes it hangs and have auto restart frequently sad.gif

Planning to send it to Sony service centre for replacement. One of the sony service centre is at the curve right? May i know does it open during public holiday?

Thanks.
*
That's sad news!

Yeah the Sony Center is open on public holiday, however, they will just help to send to the service center, which I think is not open on public holidays. I always send to the Sony there though, I find it more convenient to drop by and collect at shopping malls during non office hours and non working days.

Can any owners of M5 please open full brightness with the adaptive brightness off and open full black background. Can you see light bleeding? I just want to see  whether my unit is not that bad and I should be happy with it. Thanks in advance.

How do I open full black background??

just bought c5 ultra
downgrade from my flagship phone

everything is ok , suprisingly no lag
1 thing i really hate is the charging time is super long..

even my ipad mini charges faster

Did you try charging with the iPad mini charger?

Yeah, the default charger shipped is very low output, not sure why Sony decided that way.

any review on M5 battery so far? giving up on getting z3 compact, currently looking for this m5

Surprisingly I am quite liking the stamina mode on Sony, this is my first sony phone though. It feels like a very smart Juice Defender. I now keep it on all the time, just whitelisting my messaging apps like WhatsApp, Hangouts and Facebook Messenger.

I will end up with 50% or more at the end of the day when I reach home, with average 1.5-2 hours Screen On Time.

Jeez, I just faced the dreaded "auto shutdown and need to plug in power to boot up" issue that I have been reading in forums.... it happened yesterday night. If it happens frequent enough I will need to send it back to the SC.
