Went to see Billy today. G7 was tempting, luckily I managed to resist.

Had some time to mess about with my rig last week. Installed a SATA DVD+RW and got my HDD suspended below it as well, point being to keep them both together and powered off a single cable thus reducing cable clutter. Installed a Kama Bay as well to keep the HDD cool and provide more intake air to the CPU and RAM area.
![]() Finally got a 70mm fan for my HR-05 too. ![]() A look at the interior. Can't quite get the cables as neat as I want them too, perhaps the mobo tray needs more holes. Asus stock SATA cables are stiff as heck. ![]() And the completed system under my desk. Kama Bay looks OK overall, but build quality is not as high as I expected (nowhere near Lian Li alu quality) and it's not quite wide enough, so now I have a gap between the Kama Bay and my front bezel. Might still end up getting the EX-33 later. ![]() |

Yeah I could remove the cage, but I figure it's no a big hindrance to airflow, so just leave it in there.
Cable management is pretty bad, but I figure I need to get holes cut into the tray to route them better. The 70mm is noisy at full speed (3800rpm), but I'm running it off the mobo with fan control at 2500rpm which is much quieter. Both my 120mm intakes only running @ 800rpm and the rear 80mm exhaust @ 1200rpm, so overall it's satisfactory in terms of noise levels. |

They are elastic bands. Perfect for HDD suspension to eliminate vibration noise. Check out SPCR for more info on that haha.
Yeap, Panasonic. No other choice at the time lol. Did consider sending to ianho, but at the end of the day, it doesn't bug me that much since it just looks untidy, but none of it is in the way of the airflow. One of the fans is a Scythe, that one memang 800rpm @ 12v. The other is a CM UV Silent, 1200rpm normally, but running off Asus mobo with Q-Fan control means I can drop it down to 800rpm. |

I hate bling bling. I'm swapping my blue UVs for black Yate Loons soon.

I'm getting the Yate Loons from Rllh's bulk from Petras.
Do note, they are meant to be run at under 12V if you want a decent noise since at 12V, they are rated for 1350rpm. Ideally, 1000rpm or lower would be best. My CM UV Silents are actually very satisfactory already, I just can't stand how they look. |

ianho and Darksythe:
Lol I KNOW! Damn disappointed OK when I was installing it in. Mana tau they did not make it at least as wide as a standard DVD drive. Anyway I've already offered it to irenic for sale. So once the EX33 arrives at ATE, this one goes off. I'll be keeping the lovely 800rpm Scythe fan tho. This post has been edited by evilnickwong: Feb 21 2007, 11:37 AM |

I'd get it if I could, but the bulks by Rllh and king are already in progress. Plus, those bulks take ages man. I've been waiting on Petra for weeks already.

I remember Billy mentioned to me that sometimes the reason their pricelist does not appear in HWZ online is because of a dispute between certain groups of shops. Doesn't matter much tho, cause the price list they have on HWZ is usually of such crappy scan quality, you can't read half of it.

I saw that black/silver hybrid PC-7S today at ATE, and yeah it doesn't suit Lian Li at all. Then again, it's obvious what direction they're taking as sniper mentioned. Even their new cases at CeBit had blue LEDs and shit down the front.
I'm loving the A05 tho, saw it today at ATE. I tried to persuade Billy to bring in EX-33, he asked me to call back tmrw to see what his supplier says. This post has been edited by evilnickwong: Mar 27 2007, 07:59 PM |

I called Billy yesterday, bad news is, he confirmed that ATE won't be bringing in the EX-33 to Malaysia. I asked him twice and he confirmed both times.
Guess that means we either order from one of the US bulks or, settle for EX-34, or... cook something up ourselves. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Apr 3 2007, 09:13 AM) Lol that someone would be me. I have a Kama Bay already and as he mentioned, there's a crappy gap all around, hence the reason I'm looking for the EX-33. I also want proper hard drive mounts in that area for 2 HDDs rather than using elastic suspension which is only neat if you have just one HDD. |

Was tidying up around my PC-60 today while adding one more HDD. I added strips of velour (a soft felt material) to the sides of my side panel and the case where they make contact. Now, putting on the side panel is alot tighter and it's less prone to vibrations. An easy thing to do if your panels are rattling.

Not really. Stronger fan also means the filters will get clogged up faster since more air is moving through it. You'll still have to clean them up regularly.
In my own experience, using low airflow fans actually work well because dust it not easily pulled into the filters since the pressure from the fan is not very strong. I'm also using double filters in my PC-60B. One is the stock black foam-like filter, and on top of that is a aluminum mesh filter (from Petras Tech, MNPCTech). |

I'm using Yate Loons undervolted to about 1000rpm and they pull air just fine through the filters. Too much pressure can be decremental as well you know.
Give it a try and see how it goes, for all you know, your temps might not change and you'll have a quieter rig. |

I covered mine off permanently when I layered the entire roof of my PC-60B with sound dampening material.

If you can remove screws with a screwdriver, yeah it is.
Actually, if you don't have kids/pets, just forget a wire grill entirely and leave it as a bare hole, that'll be even better for airflow and noise. |
