The way i put mine on the PC-7 is :

Front - Intake
Rear - Exhaust
Top - Exhaust

Just waiting to get my hands on a Side Fan for Intake and mine will be done but too bad ATE ran out of stock. Anyway, with my following configuration without the side fan, does it seem fine?Cause both my exhaust fan are those crazy Silverstone fan that blows out alot of air while intake is only a Noctua which is half the performance of the Silverstone.

After taking out every piece of hardware and reinstall them back, my 8800 suddenly is idling on 63c instead of the usual 58c i get last time. Would configuring the Top Fan to intake helps?Would it be a problem having too many exhaust and only one intake?Cause AFAIK, i have 3 exhaust (rear, top, PSU) and one intake only..

hmm.gif, the very same way like tongue.gif... well, i tried too, as Doom's suggest (as an experiment), switch the top fan to exhaust instead of intake, well i found the interior (inside the casing la wink.gif), slightly increase by 3°C~5°C, so i think it's better leave it as intake icon_idea.gif, so now the configuration is...

3x intake (2x120mm @frontal; 1x120mm @top hole)

2x exhaust (1x120mm @rear case; 1x80mm @psu)

i think just make sure the intake and exhaust cfm is equal.
*
do u have any idea how difficult it is to do that??? yeah u can use both the same EXACT fans for front intake and rear exhaust.

but even if u do that, did u take into account ur PSU fan? thats exhausting air oso...or if ur using the blower type cooler for ur GC (eg 8800 cooler) that one oso exhausting air...

u have to know the figures for every fan...AND the amount of resistance they have to go through in order to get a good reading.

imho best way to get a positive pressure case...is set all fans to intake and just leave the PSU and/or GC to do the exhausting. tongue.gif

In ur scenario the best it to have the top, front and side (side patent fan and side opening) for intake.

Then the rest would be rear, PSU and 8800 to do the exhaust ...

It would be the best u could get ... icon_rolleyes.gif

If u still looking for better result than can give PC-A16 a try ... thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

8800GTS tend to run idle at slightly higher temperature after using for some time..........

u might want to turn ur fan speed up from 60 % to may be 80%, it's still very quiet for me.......mine idle at 63 shoot up to 67 before i manually tweak the fan, after that goes down to 60 only......hehe

yeah, don't forget to take in the fan filter into consideration laugh.gif

fan filter will reduce CFM for a fan, if put fan filter at the front, then have to put fan filter at all fan in the case rclxub.gif wonder how to put filter on the PSU Fan & those VGA Exhaust Cooler Type cool2.gif

60 only??? dammit.... mine idles at 70 (60% fan)even with AC room...at first when right after install it was idling at 61..now after its had some usage its steady around 69-70. friggin weird ler...somemore i plan to SLi the cards later on in about 1-2 months time.

isk. god knows it its my case thats the issue... kinda looking and thinking to get another bigger case or not now oso...

problem with my room is dust. (i change my filter every week). so i gonna need one where its easy to replace the fan filter etc etc...only thing that i can think of that suits my needs so far would be the PC-G70.

the TJ09 would also be perfect...but the dust that'll come in from the side intakes is gonna be massive...and i really dun wanna have to open up and clean my case every week...sigh.

well u can go CM thread look for my casing setup....... i think the problem due to dust collection and fan aging n performance deterioration for 8800GTS.......

now trying to troubleshoot the problem why the temp keep goin up

but i manage to keep the temp down below 70 under gaming, so far only CnC3 and supreme commander.........i think still does not stretch it out far enough

so may be u can do like sniper did, 2 2x120mm frontal intake, this helps alot

Basically it has nth to do with the age of the graphic card ...

A graphic card only start aging after 2 years and above ...

The best solution is to get some opening at ur side panel ..of course it would be a waste for the GT case u are using now.

Just grab another case with side fan to fit in ur rig and cool off the 8800GTS ...

I run my GTS on stock and it's cool, running about 50 during idle.

i tried opening my sidepanel once... but no fan blowing to it just side panel open in AC room only......no changes in idle temps...doh.gif

Thanks...i'm really noob.. happy.gif
I need to put some fan because mine side panel fan block by hs Ultra V1... sweat.gif
Isn't fan sound very loud? sweat.gif
*
Nah.... The sound is still bearable. But you really dont have much choice, if ur top fan isnt powerful. it is real pointless to set it as output fan.

hmm that's weird ... btw ur gc is over clocked version right ??

if yes then the temperature shouldn't be at the same level as stock clock 8800GTS...

it would be slightly hotter...

Anyway u said whether the side panel on or off the temperature remains the same ??

yep...mine overclocked version.... and yeah...side panel open or close the temps remain the same...think if i have the time and if i rajin i try to open the side panel again and have a fan blowing towards the GC. see if the temp improves or not

EDIT: just remembered that arc_archive SLI'd the same exact card as mine in his CM Stacker and his SECOND GC was idling at 70+.

hahah that's ur answer ... I'm not sure how good is the cooler on ur card compared to the stock version and ur fan setting so can't judge about it ...

but if u put a fan at the side and blow towards it at least the whole card feel cooler a bit .. just small gain but rather than none. .
