Well, it really depends on what you need.
Maxis is renting the line from TM for the fibre optic cable. So if lets say anything happened, they will need to revert back to TM for the servicing on the fibre optic cable.
Think again, if any problem faced by Maxis user, will TM prioritise Maxis user over their own TM user?
PM me more for more details if u want to upgrade, i can help u get it done

The service is fine. Torrents can get 1 MB/s consistently on their 10Mbps subscription. But.......the customer service and technical team is lousy when things are not working. Always have to depend on TM, so a lot of uncertainties. Anything goes wrong you are at the mercy of their Customer Service, who depends on their Technical Team, who are at the mercy of TM. I went in 2 years ago because of convenience, being an existing customer and also 10Mbps for RM148. Had a terrible experience recently when upgrading my line. I am still willing to give them a chance but their customer support really needs to buck up.

I too was looking at the speed of 10Mbps when I 1st wanted to install fibre optic service but then when my friend complained, I straight go for UNIFI. One more thing good about UNIFI is that the free call fixed line to fixed line. Quite convenient for my parents to make phone call to others fixed line.

U will face problems. The stock Maxis router is crap. Once hot, it will hang. And if u torrent too much, multicast function will fail. As a result, Astro will fail also. And u can't replace the stock router. Doing so will give u internet access but no Astro. Even if have Astro, no HD channels or selecting Guide will cause multicast to fail also.
I'm having this problem. Already thinking of moving my office Maxis Fibre line to home just for internet access. Problem is Maxis won't allow 2 Fibre connection per premise. Bloody red tape!

Maxis is really bad now they throttle the speed from 10mbps to 5mbps at night. I going to switch back to Unifi, anyone got this problem with Unifi?

If not mistaken, there's some clauses in the contract stating if performance not up to the standard or claims....can terminate without compensating....heard from one of the industry player before.... But am not sure...you can dig back the 24 months contract and go thru it ....

I moved from Unifi VIP5 to Astro IPTV last year.
Advantage:
1. With 10M connection + 2 HD decoders with recording function + phone line + SuperPack 3, my bill comes to RM 338 per month. Previously higher because Unifi 10M already RM 179, Astro Beyond with 2 decoders plus recording already RM 290.
Disadvantage:
1. Cannot replace stock Technicolor router with 3rd party. Doing so will disable Astro even if u select Maxis Fiber profile.
2. Stock router with more than 20-30 connections will overload it and cause Multicast to fail. When it does, Astro also kaput.
---
What I did now was to transfer my spare Maxis Fiber line from shop office to my house. Meaning I now have 2 Maxis Fiber lines. I leave the first line alone just for Astro and use the 2nd line exclusively for internet with 3rd party router. In this case, a cheap TPLink 1043. Previously was using Asus RT66U but stupiak rubbish kept rebooting itself daily. Updated firmware and still the same. My guess is the Asus can't handle multiple traffic. Somehow the CPU will overload and cause the router to crash. The cheap TPLink so far so good. When too much traffic, it will disconnect and reconnect automatically. No biggie.

Don't switch over from UniFi to Maxis. I just switched over last week. I'm a frequent DotA 2 player. And I can tell you, the experience was horrible. Spikes lags disconnections. I feel like punching the wall all the time. 😵
Unifi was way more responsive. Maxis is slow. Not even WTFast can solve maxis spike problem. If you keep reading the forums a lot people are having problems with pings.

No biggie. provide cooling to it(usb laptop fan), it works wonders, I've tried it on my dir615 and it works well until recently where both my router and laptop fan has aged and start to fail then only I've changed it

The stupiak Technicolor is a flawed product. U put whatever cooler or even dump into an ice box also fail.

What I meant is for your Asus actually. because your router is quite powerful, so I think that it generates too much of heat and cannot dissipate it that quickly(especially if u put it inside an area alongside with ur modem, cordless phone, switch and all those without much air circulation) so it fails prematurely. Won't work because I had a laptop cooler with it. It's a flawed product. Makes wonder why a cheap TPLink can outperform it easily. Only cost 1/5 of the price!
