Hye there wanna ask..y mostly at here doing setup for Intel only? Y no rig setup for AMD? Is it AMD setup no good ? Before this I heard AMD have heat issue..is it because of that? And y latest GPU from nvidia only have 128bit ? Y no more 256bit? I just out from cave..sorry for the noon quest..planning to upgrade my PC..
*
Intel CPUs beats AMD CPUs for gaming.

Not all of them are 128bit.
QUOTE
The L2 cache was increased from 256 KiB on Kepler to 2 MiB on Maxwell, reducing the need for more memory bandwidth.

What's your current rig specs? And also, budget and usage?

QUOTE(kedaikita_ @ Sep 11 2015, 03:51 PM)
Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, the price is my issue now. I already have that Pentium and oc is the only reason i choose a z97. And i think a z97 is a good choice for future upgrade.

Sorry for being too noob and this is my first time building a pc. My budget is rm3.5k max.
*
You need a good Z97 for overclocking i5 4690K and i7 4790K,not just a Z97 motherboard.A good Z97 motherboard for overclocking has at least 8 VRM Phase. wink.gif

Sell of that Pentium for around RM200 and get this.

Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 3.3GHz RM906.30 - If you want Haswell Refresh,Xeon E3-1231 V3 is around RM1050.
MSI B85M-E45 RM275.60
Zotac GTX970 Reference 4GB GDDR5 RM1225
Kingston Value RAM 1x8GB DDR3 1600MHz RM189
WD Caviar Blue 1TB RM209
Seasonic M12II Evo 620W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular RM379
Thermaltake Versa H25 RM135
Viewsonic VA2246 RM369
Total:RM3687.90
Optional:CM Hyper TX3 Evo RM94.34
Prices with cents are from Jayacom@LYP,GPU is from TechView and the rest are from Viewnet@LYP. smile.gif

Asking on behalf for my friend who wanted to play ARK: Survival Evolved..

His rig:
AMD A10 6800K blk+HD8670D
MSI A68HM-E33
Kingston DDR3 8GB 1600
WD 1TB HDD
LITEON DVD-RW SATA
AVF SHIELDO 533
AEROCOOL AF 500W

Game requirement:
MINIMUM:
OS: 64-Bit Windows 7 Service Pack 1, or Windows 8
Processor: 2 GHz Dual-Core 64-bit CPU
Memory: 4000 MB RAM
Graphics: DirectX10 Compatible GPU with 1 GB Video RAM
DirectX: Version 10
Hard Drive: 20000 MB available space
My question is if he want to upgrade the rig by adding a Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X 3G D5..which require a 750 Watt Power Supply..

If budget is limited, what is the option he got for only the PSU? and also not sure his casing can fit such a huge card or not..the reason he choose this card is because he got it very cheap..  laugh.gif
Otherwise, please help to recommend a PSU budget within RM500 which can support the game mentioned, if doesnt need to change PSU then its better..  laugh.gif

I'm comparing SAPPHIRE R7 260X and MSI GTX750 oc..which is better in gaming? Based on specification, the MSI GTX750 oc seems slightly higher and it support higher version of OpenGL..

Price: MSI GTX750 oc - RM529  vs    SAPPHIRE R7 260X - RM499  (Price from Viewnet)
*
Go with Powercolor R9 270 TurboDuo 2GB GDDR5 RM489 from TechView... brows.gif Beats both the R7 260X and GTX750. icon_idea.gif

Their Lowyat Forum thread. tongue.gif Well if the price is RM550,it only cost RM21 more than the GTX750 and RM51 more than the R7 260X. biggrin.gif

Hi bro, saw you recommend Asrock motherboard, is it reliable compared to Gigabyte and MSI? Asrock price is quite cheap compare to other brand..  hmm.gif
*
Asrock motherboards are fine.Reliability-wise,fate of the motherboard or just luck. biggrin.gif On how you take care of the motherboard is also a factor.

You can spend a lot for an overpriced e.g. Asus motherboard and it'll fail after a few weeks.

What'd you guys think?

Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHz RM699.60
MSI B85M-E45 RM275.60

Hi, just asking for opinion, which one will be better for gaming + future proofing? Both add up to more or less the same price..
*
Option 1,but change the RAM to Kingston HyperX Fury 1x8GB DDR4 2133MHz RM269,unless you're fine paying more for that Corsair RAM..is it 1x8GB or 2x4GB?And also, motherboard to Asrock H170-Pro4..but if you're fine with that overpriced mothebroard,go for it.

Getting 1x8GB is possible if you get parts from different shops or from a shop that list the price without GST,which mostly will be cheaper.

8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz
GTX 970 EVGA FTW

2TB WD Green HDD

No disk drive.

Is it sufficient enough?

The PSU isn't that good, like the components inside of it.

What's your budget for the rig? hmm.gif

I think he refer to your PSU could be better. Why don't pick WD Blue? Most sifu I asked here last time always recommend Blue instead of Green.

WD Caviar Blue only has a capacity of up to 1TB. sweat.gif For 2TB and above,i'd suggest the Seagate Barracuda.
WD Caviar Green is a turtle.

yeah. some work out of the box without doing injection or changing the kernel etc etc.
but it seems like the performance different is quite big there. i guess it's worth the hassle to get the r9 270 and save the 50 bucks.  tongue.gif
i checked my psu again yesterday it is actually a fsp 500watt. but they do write 'up to 550watt'.
is it sufficient for the r9 270?

Hi Terence, thank you for the suggestion.

I think I'll just get the new 8gb ram since old ram is very old, don't think it will last long. So its ok to use my old video card first, and upgrade to a much better one later right.

Just noticed that viewnet is located at KL, I'm in Malacca, that's mean I need to order from their shop? Do they help the customer to assemble and install the os?

I think if you buy the parts for a whole rig, only then they will. Not sure. hmm.gif
