First of all, don't readily believed all the bs I wrote.  tongue.gif But some certain bs do make sense, especially to my self!

I think you're reading that post wrong, no body has any control - not even the FM. It is ridiculous to think the FM has any control over the stock market or has his own crystal ball.

rclxms.gif "no body has any control - not even the FM. It is ridiculous to think the FM has any control over the stock market or has his own crystal ball"......but I think one have decisional control over to buy or not to buy into a preferred fund at that market situation hmm.gif

The small cap fund could be an aggressive and volatile fund. The young investor could, maybe, have the same investment emotions as you do... but this has nothing to do with emotions, or rather the emotion can be put aside with rational investment 'theory' (or bs.) Which is the past academic studies of the stock market (from the market in USA, obviously, since most financial articles in the internet are from that country) that shows that the small cap sector out performed the S&P 500 index.
*
hmm.gif I would refer that as investment preference and not so much as emotion....
to me (may not be to some), emotional investing is the psychology effect of the situation toward oneself, that may lead an investor to make decision that at normal times would understood to be unwise.....
something like this short article..
"It is not only important to understand the risks of the investments you are looking at, but also to understand your personal risk appetite. Sometimes, it is not a matter of what kind of risks you want to take, but a matter of what kind of risks you can take given the circumstances that you are currently in. And the best way to do it is to assess your actual experience in investing.

For instance, you might have thought that you are an aggressive investor who can cope with a high level of risk based on the results of the risk profiling test. However, in practice, if you find that you always panic too soon every time the market dips, and get overly euphoric and pump in more money whenever markets are on a roll, then high-risk investments are not so suitable for you because they are likely to cause you to lose money.

hi sifus, any good recommendation for india funds? hope im not too late to jump into the party haha...
*
there is only 1 India focused fund in FSM.
others are (China-India), (China, India, Indonesia), (Brazil, Russia, India, China), (GEM) & etc.
Use the fund selector tool in the FSM to seek them out.

NOT too late to party..according to article in page# 11 post# 211
but just remember to get out of the party before it is over.... brows.gif

Good luck. Follow John Bogle's principle. If you are investing RM10k, please don't dump one lump sum into KGF. Break it into 4 or 5 equal monthly payments and invest via DCA into KGF.

If you are investing RM1K to RM2K, then it does not matter.  thumbup.gif
*
hmm.gif "What if" the RM 10k is just like small change to those people like you and RM 1~2k is like a wheel of a Bull log cart to those people like me? same principal like the above applies too? tongue.gif

Vicious selloff in sovereign bonds spooks Asia stock markets, commodities surge
PUBLISHED ON MAY 6, 2015 9:23 AM
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Asian stocks stumbled on Wednesday in sympathy with weak U.S. and European markets as equities investors were spooked by a vicious selloff in sovereign bonds globally.

The sudden spike in bond yields is being mirrored by an equally rapid rally in resources to suggest investors are becoming less concerned about the danger of deflation.

Asian bonds extend global rout as oil climbs
PUBLISHED ON MAY 6, 2015 11:04 AM
WELLINGTON (Bloomberg) - Asian bonds fell, extending a selloff that's erased US$340 billion in value globally, and shares retreated as oil traded above US$60 a barrel.

Yields on 10-year government notes from Australia to Singapore rose at least five basis points by 10:02 a.m. in Hong Kong, after rates on Treasuries increased to an almost two-month high and German bunds slid a seventh day.

hmm.gif was just wondering where did the TAXES fits into this equation...
value of the total assets in the fund should be more BEFORE the taxes given to gomen during distribution....therefore if no distribution no need to pay taxes then more value in asset, right?
now my mind start to get confused..... rclxub.gif

good news for INDIA again...
India parliament's lower house passes goods and services tax reform
Published on May 6, 2015
NEW DELHI (REUTERS) - India's lower house of parliament on Wednesday passed a bill that seeks to transform the country into a common market, harmonising state and central levies into a national sales tax which is expected to boost manufacturing.
Jaitley has called the goods and services tax (GST) the biggest reform since independence in 1947 that could add as much as 2 percentage points to the growth of Asia's third-largest economy.
