If u want to watch asterux, any android box is fine. If you want youtube to work flawlessly, chromecast feature, perhaps Netflix in future and get google assistant and voice search then get the mibox international version. If most of the answers are no, then get the cheaper android boxes. Yes can use simultaneously, just need to switch hdmi port on tv or your receiver (amplifier)

I still cant get Astrxx On The Go app to run on my mibox international version. Keep getting "Playback Error -1". Gave up trying as EPL season about to be over soon. It was working fine untill astro did a major UI overhaul for version 8 onwards. I know the mibox international is expensive compared to other cheap options, but it is really a much better box overall, in my opinion.

Actually the main keyword is "international version" and Android "TV"6.0.
As for the AOG app, I have no luck running it on my mibox intl version. Keeps crashing or playback error. I'll just wait until there is a workaround it.

For those of you who can get Astrx on the go to work, did u have to call their cust service to get it to work? I have it registered to run on my phone and mibox but it refuses to run for some reason. Stopped working after their feb update.

Finally I found out what was causing the error for me. My vpn settings in the router. Aiya, for almost 4 months I tot it was AOG new app version. Now works properly.

VPN for Netflix can allow you to access Netflix content that are not showing in Malaysia Netflix. It is well publicized that the Netflix US catalogue offers the most extensive list of shows and movies. Reason for this strange arrangement is because the owners of the TV shows and movies only allow their content to be shown at select regions instead of completely open to every other market at the same time. This does not apply for Netflix produced content because they hold the rights for it and can stream to all regions worldwide.

From my experience, if u use Astrx On The Go with your VPN settings set in the router, you cant access to its content. keeps crashing and error. After I deleted all the VPN settings in my router then it worked properly again. Hope that helps.

I had same problem after the new major update in February. Discovered by chance that it kept not working for me because of my Getflix smart dns settings on the router. Removed all of it and works again.

Yup, it crashes for me as well. I just change it to Malay and it works. Very weird, no other app has this type of problem.

Its not enabled yet. It was supposed to come after a software update but Xiaomi has been shit so far with their updates. I just enjoy it for now and any update when it actually arrives will be a bonus

It seems to happen randomly, cannot say when disconnect or when it will be fine. Got used to it, not that often.

To stop AOTG to from constantly crashing, change the default keyboard layout in the mi box to gboard (Google). Cheers

Yes, have to install gboard. If it does not show up in your mi box playstore, just sideload the apk. Can select google's Bahasa Malaysia too if u lazy to install other stuff.

When I first bought it last year, I spent slightly more than RM400 for it to ship to MY. It served me very well and is worth it. However this month I upgraded to Nvidia Shield because I will turn the Shield into my Smart Home hub (control all the sensors and smart home stuff). The mi box is a solid android box for streaming content and playing the occasional game or two on it. I have helped set up several friend and family mi boxes for them too and all working flawlessly.

Me too, Amazon botched first delivery attempt. They resending a new one.

Just stick to MDZ-16-AB and you will be fine, This IS the international version. It runs on Android TV 6.0 operating system Every other Mibox doesnt run on this OS. Only extra thing about buying MDZ-16-AB in Malaysia would be the 1 year warranty honored by Xiaomi Malaysia. But if you managed to purchase the MDZ-16-AB in the orange retail packaging, you get some free trial codes for a few US based streaming services plus a few pre-installed apps but nothing you cant install yourself later on.
