10bit h265 is a common type, should work on kodi or mx pro in current/newer devices.

and no, kodi works as it is, doesn't need anything else.

I had the same problem with Kodi before. Try update Mi Box to 8.1.0 & update Kodi to Leia.

Anyone able to run HBO GO APP after sideload to this device. For me after login it will just crash (come out to main screen )

I had a problem on YouTube Kids in my Mibox S, every first time I start my device, and I open one of the kids program, the screen will become Green.

All I need to do is restart again mibox, reopen the youtube Kids then problem solved. Already updated to latest firmware and latest youtube kids app.

Anyone here experience the same ?

Am a Ubox Gen 2 user that has serves me well for 3.5 years but has been showing sign of death. Am evaluating my options between Ubox Gen 6 Vs Mibox S.

My usage is mainly in CN/TW live TV, Chinese variety shows, VODs and YouTube. Would love to have Spotify but currently not supported by my current tvbox.

I know one of the drawbacks of Mibox is I have up sideload APK to install apps and have to use custom launcher to display apps shortcuts. Apart from this, any other significant drawbacks like 8gb storage or other disadvantages?

Appreciate your comments and recommendations.

you need to sideload cause it's pure android tv, not your tablet or mobile android.

IMO, no other android box comes close to Mi Box S, probably with the exception of nvidia shield which costs much more anyway. All other OEM/china brands have loads of crapware, bloatware and is not sanctioned by google and netflix. Don’t waste your time on other brands.

so far, i found for hbo go:

.. androidTV can't install properly, can't view anything.
.. regular android 4 box - can install, can't browse, can't view anything.
.. regular android 7, 8 boxes - can install, can browse, can view trailers (should work fine with valid ID/PW).

hbo go is a temperamental app!

I don't have a mi box; I was just replying to someone who tried using the hbo go malaysia app on his mi box but the app crashed after login screen.. I said that it's the same on my nvidia shield (crash after login screen)

Will check what version is my Mi Box S on and get back to you. As for Kodi, it's using Leia already - 18.x something.

And today there was a new weird behaviour.. while playing a video fine, suddenly signal to the TV was lost. But audio was still running through amplifier.

My Mi Box S (intl) doesn't seem to work with USB DAC. Any idea how can I make it work? I want to use it to playback HD FLAC. Otherwise I need to get a 3.5" to TOSLINK adapter.
