Yeah, whats so different about this box and the International version? Same specs only. I suspect the artificial intelligence is the voice search depending on Google voice. But isn't Google Apps banned in China? Hmm.
*
Not sure what they referring to, in terms of AI. Perhaps some search engine in China.
From what I know, Google is working on an independent platform only for China market. Maybe it will happen, but not sure as of now.

Anyway, will still wait for a while before getting the US version as an upgrade to my Nexus Player.

Yeahh... but still, no info on Android TV OS... im buying the international version for the android TV os
*
Yeah of course, Google play and Android TV 7.0.
For me it would be an upgrade to 4K capable player which my Nexus Player is not able to do.

YouTube, Netflix, Bloomberg, CNET, Al Jazeera run as native apps but iFlix has no Android TV version so I have to continue casting content from my phone or tablet. Pluto and Haystack TV are quite fun to explore.
*
Iflix could be used, but you have to sideload it using apk.
The problem is that leanback launcher could not display the Icon at your Android TV home.
To access it, you can download sideload launcher from playstore after you install the apk.

I have tried this. Iflix android app linstalls and runs fine but UI navigation is a real bitch. The icon appears on the leanback launcher after the most recent launcher update.

Very hard to see where my selection cursor is at and almost impossible to click on the play button with the MI Remote.
*
Agree, that it's hard to navigate with the native remote control (same with nexus player), I use a keyboard with trackpad to use iflix. Maybe can try plugging a wireless mouse or an air mouse to use.

Anyway, i just got my international ver. of mibox 3 from XiaoMi Hong Kong via a fren.
Hopefully the box will be updated to android 7.0 soon.

Guys, I have got an extra Mibox 3 remote controller with voice recognition (china model) for sale if any of you are interested. I saw some sellers are selling selling it at RM99. Do let me know if you are interested we could further discuss via PM.

FYI, I bought the remote from Xiaomi's China T-mall assuming that it could work with the international ver. of mibox3 but unfortunately it not the same.

yeah exactly, I already know what root does, pretty much gained full access to the device, giving permission to apps that will access to system lower level that normally is protected.

but ppl out there called this modification on mi TV box "jailbreak" like it's another thing other than root,

since the tv box is also android based, I dont really get it, is jailbreak just another name of root? or different thing
my question is simple:

is Jailbreak = Root?

if it's not, whats the difference?   just have a little confusion with "jailbreak" especially in Mi TV box android based device.

if Iphone/IPad IOS I know what jailbreak does, but in mi tv box android device? some ppl say need to jailbreak then root?  confused.gif
*
I think for android we basically do not call it a jailbreak. Jailbreak is for IOS. This basically means Jailbreak (IOS) = Rooting (Android).

Mibox is basically an Android, so you root it. Which is to gain access to system file for specific writing permission (which u already know). This is my understanding. happy.gif

So just ignore what those people out there is calling it, basically they might not know what are they referring to.

Just wanna ask, those purchased mibox international version, why buy from US? I checked Taiwan and Hong Kong xiaomi website, it is much cheaper compared to buy in US (I believed due to currency issue). Anyone can advise?
*
Hi, I got my Mibox International Version from Mi Hong Kong. It's the same with the US box except that some of the Mibox recommended apps are not there, coz those apps are for US.

I got my box for less than RM300 (not including shipping) coz fortunately I got a friend that lives in Hong Kong that is coming over for Holiday and she got it for me.

And I don't think either Xiaomi Hong Kong and Taiwan would want to sell abroad due to warranty issue, and not sure that they are permitted to do so or not.

alamak.. why no tell your friend come. if not can kirim one set... BTW, any idea what website can do postage to malaysia for that unit same as yours as you claim it is same with the US unit but without US apps. Surely the interface is in english right?
*
Haha..not sure if alot of ppl are interested on the international version or not so did say much lor.

You can try Aliexpress, I think they ship directly from China. For warranty I can claim officially from Xiaomi Hong Kong, coz my fren buys directly from Mi Hong Kong's website. Just like when you buy directly from Xiaomi Malaysia, they will provide warranty to you.

Of course it's in English with Android TV 6.0.1, but they haven update it to 7.1.1.
My Nexus player have already been updated to Android TV 7.1.1.

last year I bought the MiBox 3rd enhanced version (White Color).
May I know whether this model can flash to US MiBox firmware with Android 6.0 ?
*
Dont think it's possible, maybe can try to look for custom firmware elsewhere.

If you managed to find the apk, sure. But it will not show on the main screen. You can easily get around this by installing HAL launcher and be able to access the app from there. OR you can access the settings> Apps > then select it from there.
*
Bro, anyway to remove or add anything to the Mibox Recommended Apps from the main screen? Thanks.

Hi guys, I am thinking of getting a mibox, but need some help on the below:

1.) anyone bought from www.kodibuy.com? trusted seller?
2.) can mibox do mirroring with PC (via google cast) and Mac (airplay)?
3.) any issue using mibox with time broadband service?

thank you so much!
*
No idea on question 1.) and 3.) coz have buy from the site u mentioned and not a Time User.

For question 2.), i would say it depends on which version of mibox you buy.

If it's international version mibox that supports google cast (casting from PC is not a problem with extension being installed on Chrome on your PC.

If you buy a Chinese version of mibox, it supports miracast (depends on version). You need to figure out how to cast from PC via miracast add-ons / programs.

Just got my 'free' mibox android tv. Feeling a bit disappointed with the app selection. Apple TV might have been the better option but I'm not complaining since it's free. 4K 60FPS is acceptable although not perfect. Sometimes it stutter very slightly but noticeable.  My main usage is for my son to stream youtube and it's perfect for that. Also plenty useful for myself since I'm will be using it to watch LCK. I really wished they would allowed at least Chrome but sadly to no avail. Not to mentioned I had to pay again because it didn't show my purchases from my android phones.
*
Does this means that you want to have google chrome installed on your Mibox? You can just download the apk and sideload it to your mibox. Need to purchase? Google Chrome is free rite?

which app (APK) allows us to stream those china live TV channels (such as CCTV, Hunan TV, etc)?
i can't even watch mango TV on my pc as it requires china IP.
*
You can try to download 小薇直播,HDTV,电视家2.0. not all channels works..but for CCTV and Province Satellite TV channels should be view-able. Else just download 沙发管家 they have got those popular TV streaming apps for China Live TV.

Ohhh...Too bad then, coz the china version doesn't have play store, so you cant access google play games data but even if it have play store not all games are compatible with android TV. Some are not available on TV.

It seem impossible to sideload chrome. There's a Web browser though after I did some googling.
*
Impossible? Hmmm...I got it installed. I think you need to get the right version.
You can try to just install chrome from some 3rd party market (aptoide or shafa).

My paid MX Player Pro app shows up in the play store on my international Mibox.

I believe apps and games that are not compatible with Android TV OS will not show up. Can sideload, perhaps.
*
Yupes, playstore will only show compatible apps, most mobile game dont work on Android TV (using either remote control or gamepad). Hence it doesnt make sense to offer to you for downloading.
