btw, how much temp drop u'll get if u lap both the IHS and heatsink compared if u lap only the heatsink?

Okay....
now here is the compilations of the situation observed throughout the use of my system stated below.... 1) the temperature is still @ a low point ~18 @nite and ~24 @day, overclocking does increase the temperature. Speedfan show the thermistor temp is ~24 while changing to diode sensor is ~75 degree. 2) the NB temperature (checked using laser thermometer) is ~80 using stock and ~50 using Zalmans. the temperature beside the chip (the pcb with electronical parts have a temp of ~55 degree. 3) cpuz 1.38 shows that my proc is a c1 stepping of PD930. The voltage when set @ normal(in the bios shows it is running @ 1.275v) is 1.18v-1.20v!!!! Changing the voltage in bios to 1.375v will changed the cpuz value to 1.29v~1.32v. changing back to normal in bios doesnt change the cpuz value. Speedfan along with some utilities will shows that the 1st core voltage is 1.25(or as according to bios settings) while core 2 will always maintain @ 1.78v!!!! 4) pressing Ctrl+F1 in bios mainpage will show extra settings. Enabling Top Performance will make my graphic card frequancy to be increase from 540/1400 to 620/1700 although i didn't OC it. Pressing the default button doesnt change any thing. 5)i was able to OC from 3.0 to 3.6, but that was on a 1.20v (as according to cpuz). Searching in the net says PD930 will show a 1.35 vcore on a B2 steppings (this is without the EIST function). If cpuz is realiable, i will try to upp the vcore till 1.35 (most prolly in bios will be ~1.45) and try to achive the mythical 4.0 ghz edit:typo Added on February 8, 2007, 3:08 pmforgot to add any suggestion/advise is much welcome.... I have my new system for sometime now, but i dare not to OC it too much, in case anything goes wrong. But lately i've picked up my guts and tried with my RAM first. Currently i'm using Corsair's XMS2 675MHz. The timing in the BIOS shows that it is running at 5-5-5-15, while on the RAM it says 4-4-4-12. i've manually OC-ed it, so according to the CAS-RCD-RP-RAS-RC, its 4-4-4-12-19, which is really unstable. should it lower the RC value or higher it? i used to leave it at 19, but very unstable..so how??

What speed are you running your rams at? you can check this from the bios or using cpuz. If you lower your ram timings and it becomes unstable it most probably points to you running the rams at a higher mhz than which they're rated for...but corsair xms2 are supposed to be pretty darn fast....whats the spec of your rig? |

some one told me
to enable the high performance(in bios main page, press ctrl + F1) and the mem voltage is increased though i can get a better OC, but my GC MHz gone crazy my default 570/725 will become ~600/800 automatically, dunno why?..... |

QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Mar 9 2007, 12:48 PM) For a 820D, your fsb should be running at 200mhz quad pumped to 800mhz, and for best performance your memory should also be running at that frequency...is your corsair ddr2-800? or is it ddr2-667?coz if its ddr2-667 then it would explain why your ram mhz is set so low. but to be on the safe safe, its always good to check your rams spd using cpuz to check its rated speed and the corresponding timings. Added on March 10, 2007, 12:54 am QUOTE(mcchin @ Mar 9 2007, 01:07 PM) some one told me once you go into menu (after pressing ctrl+f1) there is a setting for your pcie (forgot the exact name) well just set that to normal, you should have a turbo setting there also.to enable the high performance(in bios main page, press ctrl + F1) and the mem voltage is increased though i can get a better OC, but my GC MHz gone crazy my default 570/725 will become ~600/800 automatically, dunno why?..... previously when Oc'ing using this mobo, i always set my nb volt to +0.2..heats up the nb till 70-80C if no fan blowing across it. but it aids oc'ing... good luck... Nice screenies
that jogs my memory, the northbridge is set by changing the FSB Overvolt Control. I normally run mine at +0.2 or +0.3 previously and with that it gives me a stable 4.0ghz...good luck buddy and by the way, i normally disable "top Performance" as it will automatically increase your FSB volt, Mem volt and enable the robust graphics booster...i would rather have those setting done manually...coz if your not careful there is a chance to fry something.... I experienced one with top performance enabled...i set my mem overvolt to +0.2 and when checking my mem volts after booting into the OS, it was set at 2.4.... And one final thing...disable all the spread spectrum options |
