Mr. Tatt...

for sure the the ram fsb is set
or maybe i done wrong...

but AFAIK i set the cpu to expert
it shows 800mhz (this is the fsb)
and the ram will uses 533mhz.

but when i increase the cpu,
my ram actual fsb will run between 529 and 549, no more no less
the ram timing
i use 4-4-4-15 (hmmm loose enuff?)

Hiya,

Me using the same mobo as you...No you dont need to connect that black molex.

My north bridge also got quite hot when i was using a 945 a couple of weeks back and that proc only managed to overclock to around 3.8ghz. My northbridge was aroun 60 degrees.

now using back my 805d and the north bridge is around 48 degress, guess it get warms the higher you clock your fsb.

ur using a 930 rite? I read that thats one highly overclockable proc.. thumbup.gif

not on my case cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

max oc is ~3.4ghz

Threadstarter, you're lucky enough that you are able to use you're Pentium D 930 pc now... rclxms.gif

Why?
Because since the day i've bought my Pentium D 930 + ASUS P5WD2-E Premium [975X Chipset] [Bought from "Linkeong"], there's always a problem of heat...
[I'm using Thermalright XP120 with Vantec UV 120MM Led Fan + Arctic Silver 5]

In stock speed, the temperature for the processor was 91Degrees!!! sweat.gif
And the northbridge in 15degrees... doh.gif

I know there's something wrong with that motherboard, the temperature sensor chip is faulty...

There i go, to CYCOM, send the motherboard for warranty claims...

I know you guys are going to say "Why didn't u complaint to Linkeong?"

It's useless, he's in IPOH, and it's going to take some time to ask him to claim warranty from CYCOM...

So there i go claim the warranty by myself...

And now, it's already a month after sending the board for RMA... sweat.gif
Every friday, i keep calling CYCOM RMA Center asking about my board, and what they've told me that it's going to take another 2 - 3 week before my board is ready... doh.gif
*
ya
i know what you mean
my condition pulak is default
diode: 17~19 degree idle and ~24 load

if change with speedfan, to
thermistor: ~73 degree!!!

but i dont have complaint cos got the chip 1/2 price from relative

Three thing I got from modernopc
(btw thanx modernopc)
you can get these and more here >> http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=177141

They are

ZALMAN VF700-LED-ALCU Copper/Aluminum VGA Cooler
user posted image

ZALMAN ZM-STG1 SUPER THERMAL GREASE
user posted image

ZM-NBF47J Zalman northbridge chipset heatsink
user posted image

My own picture will up load afterwards
cause I just got the stuff yesterday night

As for now, all i have assemble is the VF700-LED-AlCu cooler
on my XFX 7600GT
and boy what can I say
Using only the supplied,(not the STG1) the temperature decreased
from the idle : 52 degree (ambient ~22, rainy night, non aircon)
to idle : 43 degree(ambient ~22, rainy night, non aircon)

and load : ~72 degree
to load : ~60 degree
that is around ~10 degree reduction
and this is with the use of thermal paste supplied along with the HSF.

Overclocking wise
I have able to OC core only,
(tested stable with 3DMark2006)
on stock fan : max - 627mhz
VF700 HSF : max - 650mhz

my ram w/o ramsinks are able to clocked @ 897mhz
but with this new array, I havent OC yet cause no time.

(disclaimer - all 3dMark2006 test are done with the check for hanging mid-benchmarking and in mid-NFS:MW, artifacting was not check cause I don't know how to check tongue.gif )

Okay when I finish the northbridge HS operation
let see how much higher i can get with my Pentium D 930
As for now, it stand at 3.6ghz (bootable, playable)
and my NB temp is ~73 degree

If according to this article
>> http://www.bcchardware.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=2663&Itemid=40&limit=1&limitstart=1
the reduction is ~26 degree, from 89 to 63 !!! drool.gif
let see how mine will go

after 2 hours starting this ops, everything is assembled back. Quite a rush job.
on the way of assembly, I remove the Batt. to clear cmos. It been said that this mobo jumpers doesnt clear properly and requires removal of batt.

here are the results after ops
(before and after)
(no pics cause bro. already hogging the pc and just scanned thru)

CPU temp (ambient ~28, night)\
- easytune, speedfan, mbm....
old GPower: ~14 idle
ZM STG1 : ~12 idle

VGA temp (ambient ~28, night)
- rivatuner
old HSF : idle-50, load-77
new HSF: idle-45, load-62
new+STG: idle-44, load-60

NB temp (ambient ~28, night)
-laser temp thermometer
old HS : ~75 max
ZM HS : ~51 max

there you go
the point of existance for 3rd party manufacturer
to cover up the sH1t hole major company is feeding us.....

p/s OC level will be done over the week end

my regret here are only not buying a better Camera
(the one used here is a 1.3 mpx w550 phone cam)
why .... why.....WHY!!!!!!!!

mcchin,

what did you use to measure the temp on ur nb?
*
i use a infrared laser thermometer

QUOTE(coolmast3r @ Nov 21 2006, 12:57 AM)
i just wondering what nb cooler can i use..
the stock heastink seems to be just fit with my big typhoon vx..

(it is just about 2cm underh the fins and 1 or 2 cm beside heat pipe --no exact measurement has been made, i just estimating just now tongue.gif)
*
initially i thought that the Zalman HS will not fit with the G-Power Pro
but the thing is "ngam-ngam"
as well as fan cooling from the proc HSF

currently very busy wif work
and counterstriking tongue.gif

so not much time to tweak my system

it is just that
when i tweak the graphix too much
(from default 570++ to 640 - core)
i will get hang-ups (blue screen of nvdisp_dll error)
and no artifact show up at all

so any body here tweak the pcie voltage b4?

plus one more quirk
when i oc my proc to 3.6
my graphix will oc along as well to a default 628 core automatically...

hmmm... weird...

You counterstrike also?? Which server? nick?

what gfx ur using? 570 to 640 is a pretty big jump, why dont u try smaller jumps?

I increased my PCIE voltage to +2, it helps in system stability, previously i left mine at 0 and was getting kinda unreliable 4ghz overclocks, now running it at +2 and able to get 4.1ghz overclocks on water  blush.gif

ur gfx core is independent of ur cpu core, weired...which tool are u using to overclock ur gfx core clocks?
*
cs nick is redrum
mostly play in singa/thai servers

i am using a xfx7600gt
i actually did not jump straight from 570 to 640
the 640 is the max i can go without getting the freeze problem
by then even, no artifact at all

to oc the graphix
i use riva tuner

and in riva tuner
the max mem mhz is ~900(when it tell me to lower my setting)
while when i oc-ed the proc
the maxed out at ~920, more to that will ask me to reduce the mem hertz

Ah.. my bad.. sorry˛.. laugh.gif

Eh? i tot i mentioned oledi somewhere in this thread 'bout what happened to my GA-8N-SLI .. the southbridge is burnt, i guess doh.gif (although i cant see any burnt mark there because of the "golden" heatsink)

cuz suddenly all my usb ports are malfunctional and also the (integrated) sound is gone.

the shop said that the manufacturer can't fix it, so they replace it with a new board.
so basically, it is a new board. thumbup.gif
*
how long has it been sent to rma

feels like a long time

btw they sent back to gigabyte aa?? (sorry 4 the stoopid questions)
