ya..ya..bored oledi asyik makan kuih raye jer.. biggrin.gif

ok now, i've tested the big typhoon oledi..with some AS5..
my PD 820 running at stock speed , 2.8GHz..
using 2 instance of prime95, 1st instance running on 1st core and 2nd instance running on the 2nd core..
temps reading by Lavalys Everest Ultimate Edition 3.5

stock cooler
idle: 38-40C
load: 55-57C

big typhoon
idle: 34-36C
load: 50-52C

i didn't OC yet.. not now, at least cuz i'm quite busy nowadays..
hopefully can get better temps in next few days as the AS5 "settled down" a bit..
or maybe i should re-apply some AS5 back.. argh..headache arr.. my casing is too packed..

i re-applied some AS5 this morning and guess what..
idle temp increased to 35-37C.. doh.gif

edit:

just finished priming with condition same as my previous post..
ah, forgot to mention that i set the fan speed on the big typhoon to 1500rpm (using my cm aerogate II, of course)..that goes the same for previous test..
idle : 35-37C
load: 51-53C

it seems like after re-applying the AS5, my temp increased 1C. sweat.gif

no OC test yet, though..

AS5 needs a couple of days to set (2-3). I noticed my temps dropped a lil bit after its set....

BTW what is the FSB and memory speed which your running at?

Here's my latest OC:

Core speed 3336.7 MHz
Start priming 2238 Hrs

Idle temp 38-40 C
Load temp 50-52 C

Priming ended 2300 Hrs
Stable, 0 error 0 warning

That' s it for now. I think my southbridge oledi burnt. Cuz suddenly can't use all USB ports and integrated sound is not working either. doh.gif

Now I'm using a 4-port, pci-to-USB card and a USB soundcard.. wink.gif

Maybe i OC too much before, pumping excessive volts to the mobo. sweat.gif
FSB reached 953 MHz.
PD 805 user (x14 multipier) shoud get around 3.8GHz oledi but me with PD 820 (x14 multiplier) only can get 3.34GHz.. doh.gif

Threadstarter, you're lucky enough that you are able to use you're Pentium D 930 pc now... rclxms.gif

Why?
Because since the day i've bought my Pentium D 930 + ASUS P5WD2-E Premium [975X Chipset] [Bought from "Linkeong"], there's always a problem of heat...
[I'm using Thermalright XP120 with Vantec UV 120MM Led Fan + Arctic Silver 5]

In stock speed, the temperature for the processor was 91Degrees!!! sweat.gif
And the northbridge in 15degrees... doh.gif

I know there's something wrong with that motherboard, the temperature sensor chip is faulty...

There i go, to CYCOM, send the motherboard for warranty claims...

I know you guys are going to say "Why didn't u complaint to Linkeong?"

It's useless, he's in IPOH, and it's going to take some time to ask him to claim warranty from CYCOM...

So there i go claim the warranty by myself...

And now, it's already a month after sending the board for RMA... sweat.gif
Every friday, i keep calling CYCOM RMA Center asking about my board, and what they've told me that it's going to take another 2 - 3 week before my board is ready... doh.gif

Three thing I got from modernopc
(btw thanx modernopc)
you can get these and more here >> http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=177141

They are

ZALMAN VF700-LED-ALCU Copper/Aluminum VGA Cooler
user posted image

ZALMAN ZM-STG1 SUPER THERMAL GREASE
user posted image

ZM-NBF47J Zalman northbridge chipset heatsink
user posted image

My own picture will up load afterwards
cause I just got the stuff yesterday night

As for now, all i have assemble is the VF700-LED-AlCu cooler
on my XFX 7600GT
and boy what can I say
Using only the supplied,(not the STG1) the temperature decreased
from the idle : 52 degree (ambient ~22, rainy night, non aircon)
to idle : 43 degree(ambient ~22, rainy night, non aircon)

and load : ~72 degree
to load : ~60 degree
that is around ~10 degree reduction
and this is with the use of thermal paste supplied along with the HSF.

Overclocking wise
I have able to OC core only,
(tested stable with 3DMark2006)
on stock fan : max - 627mhz
VF700 HSF : max - 650mhz

my ram w/o ramsinks are able to clocked @ 897mhz
but with this new array, I havent OC yet cause no time.

(disclaimer - all 3dMark2006 test are done with the check for hanging mid-benchmarking and in mid-NFS:MW, artifacting was not check cause I don't know how to check tongue.gif )

Okay when I finish the northbridge HS operation
let see how much higher i can get with my Pentium D 930
As for now, it stand at 3.6ghz (bootable, playable)
and my NB temp is ~73 degree

If according to this article
>> http://www.bcchardware.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=2663&Itemid=40&limit=1&limitstart=1
the reduction is ~26 degree, from 89 to 63 !!! drool.gif
let see how mine will go
