Cheaper option is tuya homekit hub + any tuya zigbee lock, then pair with homekit integration
On the plus side, homekit still works locally

Switchbot lock works with bluetooth proxy, but the keypad/fingerprint is a separate purchase

There's also some tuya bt lock that works with tuya-ble integration, thinking of getting one for other doors at home. Just the ukrainian developer hasn't been active for the last 6 months  sweat.gif

Shouldnt cheap out on such a critical thing larh (especially for main door)

Anyone using smart table lamp switch dimmer?
Only one i could find is this one from alibaba

https://x.alibaba.com/15l4Na?ck=pdp

Maybe thereโ€™s an alternative link in shopee/lazada somewhere?

You could get Mi Bedside Lamp, or you could use a dimmable smart bulb with a wireless rotating knob to control dimming?

this may sound like a stupid question, let's say if i change my router to a diff model but maintain the same SSID and password, will all my smart home devices still auto connect to it and work as usual?
*
They should

currently I plan on upgrading my stock unifi router (already wifi 6) to a better one, but my whole smart home had already been setup (tuya zigbee switches + a few wifi stuffs)

since im going from wifi 6 to wifi 6, will there be any issues? also they are all connected to 2.4ghz currently
*
Most of the smart home wifi stuff are usually using Wifi 4 so yea.

Hi all, read so many sources to suggest different methods to add neutral wire for smart switch. May I know which method is the most recommended way?

1. Add neutral wire from the light that connects to the same switch.
2. Loop from nearby Aircond/Heater switch
3. Add 1 neutral wire from DB box and loop the same wire to all the switches for neutral.
*
Most of the times people are adding the switches to existing homes so they want to avoid having to do major electrical work or wall hacking etc.

I think the first one is recommended, but the second one is the easiest for people. I have used the AC neutral for a lot of the switches and no issues so far.

As i know cant do custom action on HAA. but you can change some configuration Ravencore HAAhttps://github.com/RavenSystem/esp-homekit-devices/wiki/general-configuration
for me i just use it on sonoff wifi switch. so far works well for me for almost 1.5 years already
As for IR blaster i tried research around with HAA but i give up and use other solution.
My solution to IR blaster is using Tuya IR blaster, then expose to Homebridge via Tuya IR paltform plugin. But this method it depends on if your AC remote supported by Tuya if not it is abit hassle to pair 1 by 1 the code. for my sharp AC it only works on on off the AC the temperature not really accurate. but my daikin works awesomely down to the fan speed adjustment via Home app

After months of research, youtube and reading a lot of forum pages.

Things just get more complicated lol.

Planning for new home, just go everything aqara? At first thought want to use synology surveilance station but after reading reddit like not a good choice for CCTV also.
*
Yea i would recommend full aqara

Synology one dont you need to pay for license? If you are starting from scratch even networking get a UDM Pro and get their cameras also

You can also go full tuya. Aqara devices are about twice more expensive but they can connect to matter and homekit
*
LOL what do you mean they cant connect to matter and homekit? The M2 hub allows for both.

Synology need to buy license pack. I saw somewhere UDM discontinue their camera software, is it? I did thought of using ubiquiti for my house network.
Thanks for the recommendation, if have budget go aqara, if want to save go tuya I guess. Need to compare the price different.

Currently I think priority is lighting, curtain, camera and security, these I think need to install while renovating with all the proper cabling.
*
Maybe the old one called Ubiquiti or Unifi Video. Its called Unifi Protect now. Try for Aqara, look at taobao prices for E1 switches and see if it can fit.

I search on the web, only saw around 2 company carries ubiquiti products, wonder if they do aqara as well. 1 time consult all, new place so much things to cover.

I taobao a lot too, to check out aqara stuff. Another thing to consider is neutral or w/o. Need to see my electrician from my interior designer pro or not  tongue.gif
*
In Malaysia yea but i think better if you just order from abroad larh and using a forwarding company, cheaper. I have ordered stuff from Subtel and Synchroweb but their markup is kinda high IMO. You can also consider Mikrotik stuff but they are a lot less user friendly larh the UI.

why dont u use smart switch + common light?
u will save alot.

as for light strip, u might want to consider SK6812 RGBW COB 24V.
for any light strip, if u choose 5V u will need power injection every 2.5m.

This is the way larh ...

Thanks for all the input, didn't quote everyone but yea I also find the light quotation not worth to go for. The quotation was like 2 or 3 months back and I didn't pursue further with it. If I use normal bulb and only use smart switches, CMIIW the thing I'm missing out is probably the dimming function unless I add dimmers, also the ability to control the light temperature.
Order abroad just worry ran into warranty issue, but so far my router all doing fine. Another 1 is the support, buy abroad means everything I setup myself, planning the cable routes. I was thinking a udm pro, switch and 2-3 AP for double storey terrace.

Since is from scratch, also plan to use zigbee device, but how many hub do I need, hub has about the same coverage as standard wifi router ya?
*
You can get electrician to just do all the cabling, just over commit on this put ethernet everywhere, even places you will never think you would need one there.

Setting up once wiring is done (get Cat 6, no need to waste money on 7/8 etc) can also put a couple of DAC (or fiber cables) from wherever your router will be to where you would have a workspace/office/computer room/gaming room to future proof , is actually pretty easy larh, in fact i am sure youtube + us here or on the networking forums on lowyat can walk you through it. Ubiquiti has nice interface to manage all their stuff so its not hard and a lot of youtubers cover their stuff because they use them in their homelabs.

Well the MY authorized resellers only have 1 year warranty anyway ...

Movie room tour =D
Yea just wondering will I be able to control the temperature via phone. I see those press the switch to change temperature very troublesome.
DImming function mainly just want the lights to slowly brighten up/down while switching on the lights. No main disco disco lol
*
Actually can also consider, regular bulbs everywhere but wherever you want dimming functionality have cove lighting style with led strip in it. Not only can dim, can go nuts also larh LUL

Thread don't confuse with matter

Thread is connection type just like wifi, Bluetooth, zigbee, zwave etc

While matter is like Google home, apple homekit, Amazon Alexa, tuya, aqara, sonoff, ewe link, mihome etc etc just that matter is supposed to be above to link all of these things into 3 big ones which is home, Alexa and homekit
*
Yes i am aware of that, but yea a lot of people often confuse the two, because you can also get matter over wifi. Being matter certified basically means you are not locked to a manufacturer's app thats about it larh.

u mean c6?
initially wanted s3, better processor but...
if wanted to compared performance, it was much much slower than any Pi in the market.
might as well get c6 for it rare wifi6, bt, zigbee and thread features.

there r also a project i want to do. eg 100 esp32 in mesh/thread network ๐Ÿ˜
*
Yea, most people i see just go with devkit probably because cheapest. I also usually go for those.

What projects are they? Rare might have less support tho LOL, but i guess you already did your research.

I have like a dozen still in the packaging that i still havent configured for presence sensor.
