Interesting topic. Need more topic here on smart home. My previous job involved with smart home as technical leader. We had completed 6 to 8 project for smart home and last one commercial property not completed as i resigned from the company. It's better to DIY than request company to do it for you. More cheaper and option is available.

HA in Docker can't have addons sad.gif, gonna skip HA for now then.

I continue troubleshooting and finally gotten Paradox Alarm Interface to login my IP150+ now biggrin.gif. Tonight need to figure out how to configure it... then need to tinker around to install MQTT broker on docker, then finally interface to my homebridge... I sure hope this works. With this then I can have my HomeKit auto disarm when I arrive home, and arm when everyone is away biggrin.gif.

Paradox --> PAI --> MQQT --> HomeBridge
*
abit manual work.
other addon are docker image too
since it is docker.... totally worth of it.

keyword.
HA configuration.yaml panel_iframe

Great for the kids, the touch feedback is pretty good at least from people who owned it
Can flash with esphome/tasmota now
Probably some work still needed for the speakers, as always backup stock firmware first
*

lost contact with my AP(s), one of it even located next to the router.

im wondering will esphome or or this new esp32 able solve my problem...

I think the solution is to compile tasmota firmware with your wifi credentials baked in. So if accidentally reset it stays connected to your wifi

Can use these rules to auto restart if wifi disconnected, i haven’t use this since updating to v13

CODE

ON Wifi#Disconnected DO RuleTimer8 30 ENDON
ON WIFI#Connected DO RuleTimer8 0 ENDON
ON Rules#Timer=8 DO RESTART 1 ENDON

basically: Wifi disconnects: start a 30s timer. Wifi reconnects before timer expires: Cancel the timer. Timer expires: Reboot
*
esphome config is baked into the firmware rite

BTW what settings u normally set for ur switches.

I did timer (plusetime) for all Washroom light n exhaust fan.

scheduled sunrise n sunset time for outdoor.

as for bedrooms ceilings fan, I planned to add temperatures sensors to speed up or down the speed... but since I use air-conditioning more, I didn't implement it yet

Yep, all in the firmware

Same, use timer for schedule
Use decoupled mode for tasmota light so they always stay powered
Then use wall switch for dimming, change color temp with device groups

Thought about adding ld2410 mmwave directly to the switch, but not useful if fans are nearby

My fan always at fan 2 speed, so no automation there otherwise wife complains πŸ˜†
*
i knew we can use dimmer switch...
but how u change color?

I have similar set up as you too.

Exhaust fan turns on with toilet light, when light turns off then exhaust fan continue to run for 15 minutes before shutting off.

Good idea for the fan speed and temp, I didn’t think of that πŸ˜„.

beware, some ppl like cold sleep and others prefer hot sleep πŸ˜…

QUOTE(alucard89 @ Aug 19 2023, 02:18 PM)
I use rules for that

CODE
rule2 on system#boot do Var1 0 endon
on Button1#State=11 do add1 1 endon
on Var1#State>=2 do Var1 0 endon

rule1 on Var1#State==0 do devgroupsend 7=13 endon #warm white
on Var1#State==1 do devgroupsend 7=12 endon #cold white

Each double press just toggles between cold/warm light. Obviously can already setup with ha automation but this is better with device group
*
u r using tri color light?
i tot u were using rgb light strip

Which brand should I choose? Philips Wiz? Yeelight? TP-Link?
*
smarthome apps are very brand dependent.
pls research which one u going to use for long time before u commit.
... not applicable unless u going to host your one server

fyi xiaomi n tuya have complete catalogs of IoT

No, should be ok as long as it's from the same mcb.
I had one switch that used neutral from a different mcb but no issues so far
*
3phase electric will trip the rccb if the neutral not balance

i know coz saw it and scared it will fried my switch

I filtered out these 3 selections for my auto-gate

1. https://shopee.com.my/eWeLink-DC-2-Channel-...7179.3160607519
user posted image
Pro: easiest
Cons: unknown chips and not sure can flash custom firmware.
RM60

2. https://shopee.com.my/ESP32-SX1276-LoRa-WIF...646.14480142838
user posted image
Pro: better chips, can flash firmware
Cons: expensive, need to dyi soldering for connectivity, no case, alot of efforts needed
RM140

3. Buy all parts and assemble myself, esp32+RF433MHz receiver
Pro: cheapest and no sure what different compared to (2)
Cons: same as (2) + nightmare awaiting
RM50

Getting (1) choice is very tempting, but I want to hear your review.

I use the first choice one, having been using it for 2 years + with DC Moto board, i would say i am pleased with it. Feel free to ask me any questions if you want to know more. I have it linked with HA and interface with the gate on HomeKit.
*
do u know which chip it is using?
can u flash firmware on it?
how is the wifi connectivity, stable?

i hv experience esp8266 chip, the wifi always disconnected.
that y i put esp32 as secondary option.

If it's from older stock, it might still have esp8266 on board.
*
thank you for the feedback.
8266 still got chance to flash πŸ‘πŸ»

how about the LoRa chip, can we use the normal 433MHz remote for it? i dont intent for LoRa feature... trigger it 15KM away.
Just normal 10 to 20m will do

i been clouded by iot devices using esp chips.
and forget there were pi out there.

recently i found a better alternative, the Orange Pi.
Half the price, double the performance.

if compared to esp, at least 10x performance.

Which orange pi and what you’re using it for?
Other than running ha
*
not yet...
so far I m interested in this

Orange Pi 5 Plus, got 6TOPs compared to CoralTPU running at 4TOPs.
too bad Frigate not supported yet.
but YouTube got ppl show good performance using YOLOv5

Orange PI Zero 2W, planned to use it for autogate & alarm integration
but it don't have BIG little features, and it will b overkill performance for only simple task.
